One of John Barry's best Bonds! I actually like the score to YOLT better than what most people consider his genius work, Goldfinger.
I liked YOLT, but thought Connery as a Japanese male rather silly. Also, the helmet he wore while flying little Nellie always makes me chuckle.
The use of the volcano as the villain's lair has stood the test of time and has been parodied as the ultimate spy hideout.
Music. BAT! Music.

That volcano set cost $1 million, which was the entire budget for Dr No. Of course it probably wouldn't have covered the catering costs on the latest Bond.

I liked YOLT well enough, but I prefer the (pretty much) remake, The Spy Who Loved Me.

Also love the score, though I'd argue Barry's "masterpiece" was On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and I'd also put Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker higher up the list than Goldfinger. As a general rule, though, you can't go wrong with John Barry, period.

Here's the original Julie Rogers version of the YOLT theme (quite different) before they changed course and went with a new arrangement, and Nancy Sinatra.

I love James Bond 007 soundtracks and YOLT is a great one. John Barry was freakin’ awesome and really made the movies that much better. I’m also a fan of the Goldfinger and Thunderball soundtracks. Speaking of You Only Live Twice, here’s a rejected version by Lorraine Chandler. Supposedly it was recorded, turned down, and forgotten for 20+ years and then finally released. Not a bad song, but the Nancy Sinatra version does it for me.

Here’s a YouTube version of the Chandler song over the original opening credits.

Here’s a little more background on this forgotten track.

I can't really say which is my favorite 007 theme song, but I guess Diamonds Are Forever as it's classy, sophisticated, and sinister so it contains all the elements and characteristics of Bond's world. Maybe I'm biased also because Diamonds is my favorite Bond film. What I can say for myself for sure is that I love all the Bond themes (up until Roger Moore left in the '80s and I lost interest in the character/film line) from the '60s, '70s, and '80s as they evoke certain memories and emotions related to when I first watched whatever given film either at the cinema, on TV's The ABC Sunday Night Movie, or on a late-night midnight movie broadcast.
