Re: BAT 77 Episode #11 A Fiddle for a Riddle
Out of all the Power Records stories, I really like this one the most. The "Battrap" with the speedboat is very well done. The Riddler''s voice has a creepy accent to it, that when amplified through that bullhorn used to make me shiver. Thanks for taking the time to bring back my memories. Good times!
Music. BAT! Music.

Enjoyable show, JB. I had never heard the Adam West record with the villainous Tickler, so thanks for sharing that. I always enjoy discovering something new.
The Riddler record was one of the strongest power records adventures, and I agree that the Riddler voice actor was channeling Frank Gorshin. Like you said, I can clearly see this working as an episode of the 66 series.
Riddler used the death trap with the levers in Batman 263, which was the May 1975 issue. I wonder if it influenced the Power Record or vice-versa, since I don't know which one came out first. I guess it could have been a coincidence.

When I was a kid, I didn't know what Batman meant when he said "Mr. E. Nygma." At that point, I had no idea what the Riddler's real name was.
Finally, I was in college before I realized the title of this story was a play on a Shakespeare quote from 12th Night. The quote is "If music be the food of love, play on." I guess it was appropriate since the story dealt with a stolen violin.
