First off, I would like to thank everyone involved with this forum. It is a great resource and inspiration.
I have gathered as much information as possible and started on my version of a utility belt. I say my version because I misread a dimension on the purchased pattern and made the pouches too thick. I decided to use real leather and discovered that it holds its shape when formed so I created a pattern that didn’t require sewing belt loops. I could have made functional pouches by altering the pattern a little bit, but I decided to glue the leather to wood blocks just because it was easier. I have sourced a yellow paint and a yellow dye made for leather that can be airbrushed on. I just need to experiment with each and see which one looks better. Now, I have to research airbrushing, purchase the equipment and learn how to do it, so it may be a while before I post any photos on my progress.
Attempting to post larger pictures - hope this works.
I assembled and glued 4 of these pouches and now moving onto the cylinders. How do you typically attach the belt loops to the cylinders? I have some left over leather to cover the cylinders. (I had to practically buy a whole cow i.e. hide - this is not an inexpensive hobby!) I was thinking of using an elastic strip or maybe some of the left over leather and just using screws but I don't really want to have exposed screw heads. Any suggests would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Beautiful work, my friiend! And, no... this is NOTa cheap endeavour. lol
I used elastic on my tubes. The screw heads, are visible, but very small.
My other belt has leather strips. Screwed in as well.
