Belt Styles

Post by Hedji »

Forgive me if this has been answered already. I tried searching the archive, but wasn't successful.

Looking at Clint Young's 3 styles of Utility Belts, and trying to decide. Which belt is generally preferred? Sadly, I don't have access to the TV episodes, just the movie. Which belt styles were used when, and which was used the most? Do most costumers go with a certain style?

The most used style on the show was either a simple painted block of wood or a block of wood covered in a yet unknown fabric/leather/vinyl cover with a squared off tab coming up from the bottom.

The early first season saw the Top Flap and the round-ish tab coming up from the bottom which were both leather over wood.
By mid first season and through the run of the show they were simplified to the squared off tab coming from the bottom.

Except for the belt boxes made for props like the Bat-A-Rang and Batrope, none of the belts were "practical" meaning they didn't work or hold things.

I believe there were some covered foam blocks with rubber "tubes" used for some belts but I've never examined one.

Hope this helps,
Chuck...
