Sharing something I made for my daughter.

Post by The Batker »

So my daughter is becoming obsessed with Batman, and more importantly to her, Batgirl and she also likes Catwoman.

She's like a boy in a way that she is very destructive and hard on anything I get for her. So I thought about how to make her a cowl that she could wear and play in. It also had to be cheap and a bit durable for her. So I found some foam that others were going to throw away at work and brought it home. I picked up some purple glitter, some spray adhesive and some purple spray paint. I wasn't sure if the purple paint or the glitter would come out better. Anyways I started with the idea of making a whole cowl out of foam for her. Once I created it however, it wouldn't seem to fit over my baby's thick blonde hair. So I cut the back off and had an idea to put just a rubber band on the back at first.. But then I had a thought, I took a pair of old goggles and took the band off of it. Seemed to work perfect and now to her I'm a hero because I made her a mask. It start as batgirl but it turned into more of a catwoman thing. It's not the best but it was simple and easy, and I just wanted to share with those like minded who might understand. It made me a proud papa of a girl who turns 5 tomorrow. I've been the only father she's known since I met her mother 3 years ago. I'm just proud she seems to take after me. :D

Her smile was undescribable.. but she explained to me.. She can't smile in a photo cause Batgirl, or Catgirl as she's also calling herself has to be tough. I also saved all the foam from the rest I cut off, I'm sure I'll be making at least one or two more of these for her. lol

Yeah Chuck, when she found out I ordered a cowl from you she decided that she needed a "mask" too.

Thanks guys for the feedback. She's been wearing it almost nonstop. I graduated yesterday with my bachelors and I had to bribe her not to wear it.

Also I must say, my cap and gown just happened to be a dark navy that photographs a bit purple... And my tassel was very much the same color as the yellow from the chest symbol. It seems almost like fate.. Lol
