Looks very impressive so far...love the painted tape look.
Like the turtle vs the hare....slow but steady wins the race.

Keep it up Charles...I am enjoying your progress.

Do you think the tape will stay stuck or should I be worried about it peeling off?

Yes I am feeling much better now I still have the occasional backache but it is not enough to stop me from completing the build. Thanks for the nice comment.

What do you think about the tape idea will it stay stuck or should I worry about it peeling?
Here is a picture of the actual AP legs you can see the lines which I am trying to replicate.
I think the legs are either metal duct or cardboard cylinders.
Looking at this photo I may have to use narrower tape I think my lines are too far apart.
What do you think?

Charles,

You're definitely on the right track. Your tape idea to achieve the lines and texture was brilliant.
You seem to be putting so much great effort into this project... so my humble opinion would be to get some narrower tape, as you suggested.
I wonder if you could use a matte gloss coat over the paint, to keep the paint from possibly peeling???
Or, paint one as a test while you work on other parts of the AP. maybe by then you'll get a better idea if the paint will start to peel or not.

I've been following this build for some time. I always look forward to when you post something new.

Best of luck,
Jeremy

Thanks so much Jeremy I am going to try a narrower tape and also wind the tape at less of a degree of angle then I think the lines will be more accurate I just have to figure out a way to wind all the legs alike but that should not pose to much of a challenge.
I have more materials ordered for the catwalks so until that arrives I will concentrate on the legs.

Lurky where did you find these they are fantastic!
I am seeing detail that I was going to have to guess at from the photos I have thank you so much!
I can see now that the AP legs are most likely cardboard cylinders wrapped in what appears to be some kind of vinyl or plastic wrap. The pic with Batman on the ladder was a dead give away the material that the legs are wrapped in is wrinkled.

This is a great post you have made do you have more?

Thanks for the kind words. I was afraid they might be old bat-hat to you.

Found 'em at 'Getty Images' - Click on 'Editorial'/'Archival', then search 'Batman', 'Batman 1966', 'Adam West', anything along those lines.
I cherry-picked, but they're were others you might find useful.

I'm sure you've seen these, but possibly better quality.

Yes I have these but of poor quality these are great!
Can actually see more detail in them.

Thanks

Well here is a progress update!
I went to a print shop and got the catwalk layouts printed on one page instead of having to tape them together here are a couple of pics of the layouts.

The Top Catwalk:

The Middle Catwalk:

Here you see I have the styrene cut for the top catwalk awaiting assembly:

Image

And here is the top catwalk assembled just needs some cleanup work and painting. But before I can do that I have to assemble the lower catwalk and drill the holes for the railings.

Image

Here's another view of the top catwalk this is the underside of it:

Some may be thinking why could I not just use the catwalk I made earlier.
That one had two many flaws for one the legs would not fit in between the framework and it was not the same size as the bottom catwalk. That's what happens when you do not have a correct layout to base your measurements by. I have to give a big thumbs up to my son without him making the layouts I could not have started over so thanks Christopher.

Thanks for the pictures they are superb!
I went to the archives you mentioned and copied a bunch of pictures but these are nice having them in the thread it reminds me of how much more I have to do!
I am really worried about if this thing turns out like I am planning I am going to try to make the entire cave and the Bat machines with all those buttons and lights I don't know if I can make those.
I will worry about that when the time comes.
