Matty '66 Belt Too Large...Anyone Modify It?

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to thank those who took the time to reach out and assist with sourcing some of my initial gear for my '66 suit -- especially Ken/Batman65 who went above and beyond...much appreciated!

Question for those who have the Matty belt -- I decided to go this route for my first belt due to budget and timing (getting something in time for Halloween). My issue right now is that the belt at its smallest/tightest option is still way too large for my 32" waist. Has anyone modified the belt with velcro or elastic fabric to work around this? I'm debating selling it back on Ebay and pursuing other options, but wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I know Adam was in the 32 to 34" waist range so I find it hard to believe I'm the only one who's had sizing issues... Obviously, the Chuck and Lynne replica is the crown jewel, but from reading posts, it seems the Matty is the next best thing for accuracy...

Any insights would be most appreciated...many thanks!

My suggestion for a quick fix is to use Velcro. For a long term fix, I would go to hobby lobby and install eyelets similar to the original. Those are fairly easy to install. I'm glad I could help in some way, shape or form. It's the least I can do to help "pay it forward" so to speak. Others on here were soooo helpful in helping me get my suit to where it is now, and to those of you (you know who you are) I give a huge thank you. This really is a great community.

Velcro will be difficult to hold it together because of the eye hooks. You have enough room before the pouches to put in 2 more sets of eye hook holes so I would suggest this & like BM65 says, you should be able to find the eyelets at a hobby/craft store.

Thanks guys -- these are great suggestions. I thought about adding additional eyelets to the belt (as there's more than enough room). I'll look into the eyelets and see if my local cobbler can't do me a solid (as he's done a few special projects in this vein before) Appreciate the insights, as always!
