Van Williams related - needs confirmation

Post by Batfanman »

There's a post in this Lost In Space FB page that says Van Williams passed away last Monday.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/9024690 ... 7/?fref=nf

I can't confirm this elsewhere. Anyone have any insight? You probably need to be registered to this group to see the post so here's the text from it:

I know it's not, "Lost in Space" -- but I just received the sad news that actor Van Williams passed away last Monday. I got to work with Van in 1989 and he became a good friend. What many people don't know is that Van spent many "post-Hornet" years as a fire fighter in the LA area. He singed his lungs in the process and spent his later years battling numerous ailments like lung disease and severe back problems. Through it all he remained strong and rarely spoke of what he went through. He was a great guy and a class act all the way. My thoughts and prayers go to his wife Vicki and his family.
*******************

Again, this is unconfirmed and I've been searching for confirmation but none so far.

For what it's worth, there is no mention on the internet about it - and I would think after a week someone would have picked up on the story. Let's hope it is not true.

I have not heard or read any confirmation about that, either.

Oh, btw...typing in Google, "name of person" and the word dead, ie: Cesar Romero Dead, will always get your answer as well. Type in Van Williams Green Hornet dead and you see he's quite alive. Man do I detest Facebook.

Yeah the site's a bit morbid, but when you need answers to this sort of thing, it's a great resource. Snopes.com for all other stupid type rumors. Btw, Van wasn't a fire fighter, he was a deputy. Just more wrong information on that FB page, or site or whatever they call it.

John Mack - I'm hoping I'm misinterpreting the tone of your post which seems to imply that you didn't consider that I may have already researched this in a manner similar to how you describe before posting my inquiry here, which I continue to stress is an unconfirmed report.

I've also considered that sometimes family do not immediately release information on a loved one's passing and that this also remains a possible eventuality. This person on FB seems to have inside knowledge that makes confirming this disturbing story worth pursuing. I'm not looking to stir up a hornet's nest (pun intended!) and hopefully, it's a false report and that Mr. Williams is still very much with us.

Gutted. Van was always such an incredibly wonderful person each and every time I saw him throughout the years. The world has lost a true talent and gentleman...

RIP Mr. Williams, I am honored to have met you twice. You were a first class person and will be missed.
