RIP Van Williams 1934 - 2016

Post by Scott Sebring »

Van Williams died Monday night, November 28th according to his wife Vicki from e-mails that she sent to select friends and family. There will be no funeral or memorial service to my knowledge from what I've heard from a few select sources.
Here's one of the news stories:

One of the good guys. :(

RIP Van, and thanks for the adventure!
I find you to be odious, abhorrent and insegrevious.

Sad news indeed. I've enjoyed his work while watching the series and capturing many photos for projects and for topic threads. He will be missed. Condolences to his family, friends and many fans. Rest in Peace.

I first saw this at work this afternoon. Now I have had a few hours for this to sink in. Like many of us here, I watched the GH, maybe not quite as much as Batman, but, you know where I'm coming from here. This really hurts. This year just won't let up. 2016 will go down as one of the worst years for losing those that brought us joy and smiles. Thank you Mr Williams, as Lee already said here...for the great adventure. You WILL be missed.

RIP Sir.

The Green Hornet is one of my all time favourite shows and Van Williams was perfect in the role. He went on to become a real life hero.
The series is still warmly remembered 50 years on and will continue to be for many years to come. I hope that brings some comfort to his loved ones over the forthcoming days.
RIP

I had always hoped to meet him but never found the opportunity. Just so sad to hear this news. The show has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Van Williams was a quintessential hero.

Never met him but admired his work on the Green Hornet and Dick Van Dyke.

Meet him many times, a truly gracious and friendly gentleman with an incredible wit. The last time I saw him I had him sign both my GH mask and my gas gun, and to my utter delight he put the mask on! He said it fit even better than the original :)

Above my desk I have three pictures of him- one a promo GH shot signed and the other two pictures of myself with him, one shot almost 30 years ago and one from just a couple years ago. I stare at these photos frequently each day, as they never fail to bring a smile to my face, even on a day as sad as this one.

Thanks for all the wonderful entertainment and memories, Van. You were one in a trillion.

So very sad, but Mr. Williams is off to a bigger adventure.

I appreciated his work before & after The Green Hornet--always a solid actor. He will be missed.

Van Williams as the Green Hornet by Arvell Jones Life Sized Original Art

Post by thebionicbigfoot »

Van Williams Life Size Original Art by Arvell Jones resized.jpg
This post is in honor of Van Williams, The Green Hornet. In 2015/2016 I hired Marvel artist Arvell Jones to complete a full size full color commission of Van Williams as the Green Hornet. The piece was autographed on February 9th, 2016. His wife, Vicki, confirmed this was the last private signing he ever completed and this was the last autograph he ever signed! I am honored to add this to my collection. Thanks Arvell for a job well done. Mr. Williams, thank YOU for being so gracious to your fans.

Regards,
