My bet would be that a buyer would keep it as the Batmobile!

Paul, Amazzen on Eric's 1966batmobile.com site, is putting out feelers to put together a bat gathering on Friday, January 18th, 2013. How many of you are planning to be at the auction?

Sorry I can't attend Mark, even though I live a mere 100 miles from Scottsdale in Tucson. Let add though that I hope whomever buys the car does a complete restore of it and ESPECIALLY gets rid of those annoying orange signs all over the car. The "Bat Gas" ones on the front of the car have always made me shake my head in disbelief.

It's a sad day, I'm sure, for the Barris family, seeing the #1 car leave the shop for perhaps the last time (assuming it sells at the auction). Here are six pictures of the loadup:

At that price, the upcoming model from Hot Toys doesn't seem so expensive! :D

What a wonderful, crazy, and sad day all at the same time. From the moment the car entered the auction hall, the crowd was electric. When it was pushed onto the block, the crowd was on its feet. Anyone that was anyone in the Batmobile world that could make it was there to support and cheer George on.

The new owner says he's cutting a hole in his house to put the car in his living room. Here's hoping he allows tours, LOL!
