I have never heard of this album by Bob Crane, but ME TV has a posting about it on their web site along with his version of the Green Hornet theme. It's pretty dreadful.
Does anyone own this album?

I have the LP. It's no more campy than Al Hirt's LP putting in his vocal comments in the version of Get Smart, and certainly no worse than the lyrics of the Batgirl theme (what is your scene baby? We just gotta know).
Maybe it's just me, but I've never minded his version of the GH theme.

Music. BAT! Music.

Crane's GH theme reminds me more of the theme to Dozier's failed Dick Tracy pilot ("Dick Tracy -- He's a good cop!) than it does the Batman theme.
IMHO, jazzing up The Flight of the Bumblebee was a witty idea (and Al Hirt's execution was great), but Crane's version is a little too much on the nose. And now it's going to be rolling around in my head all day.
These days, hearing the GH theme makes me want to watch my favorite scene from Tarantino's Kill Bill.

This reminds me of that syndication commercial from the '90s (Nick? TV Land?) where they added jokey lyrics to the tune...
"The Greeeeen Hornet! / Alias publisher Britt Reid!"
It was highly annoying, but it stuck with me all these years.
