At the risk of hogging the thread; Sprang's sentiments are mine exactly-- my James Bond is Sean Connery and his adventures are clearly set in the swinging 60s. My Superman is a cross between Chris Reeve and George Reeves.
I don't see a movie or buy something just because Batman is in it or on it. I've not seen Suicide Squad or Justice League and I don't plan on it anytime soon. Batman comics today don't feature the character I recognize and I'm cool with that because I've got a shelf and a tablet with reprints of every issue of Batman up to #300 and Detective up to #500-- so I can revisit the one I know whenever I want.
It's the same principle as to why I don't visit buffets, I'm not interested in unlimited amounts of mediocre food, I'd rather eat at a place with tiny portions that offers amazing food. The Batman in my head is much cooler than anything being done with him today.
