SIMON THE PIEMAN: The Greatest Villain Never on BATMAN '66

Post by Dan Greenfield »

Hey, Batfolks!

Posted this tribute to the great Simon the Pieman over at 13th Dimension. Simon's celebrating his 50th anniversary this year, and we take a look at his underrated awesomeness -- as well as who should have played him on Batman '66 (had he existed, obviously).

It's a bit of fun and you can check it out here:

Simon the Pieman rocked!!! I look forward to watching him each time I pop in the old Filmation series. The W.C. Fields impersonation, the bad jokes and puns, the Dance of Joy/Victory with the pots and pans banging, and the plain crazy story-lines. Wait! I didn't say "Simon says..."
"Hmmm... I don't like the twist this joke is taking. Let us away! Let us away!"

I always thought of Jonathan Winters as Simon, given his old lady crossdressing and all. Simon's old lady disguise looks lifted right from Winters.

Awsome! I was surprised when seeing this, as Simon the pieman was on every of my favorite villains watching the filmation cartoon, I had not thought of him much since then!
"Batman told him a super funny joke. When the creature didn't laugh, that was proof!"
