Mego line heading to Target stores

Post by John Mack »

Sorry Keith, I thought your post was HUGE news and needed it's own thread.

Actual Megos are coming back to life at Target stores!

There's no limit to what can be done if one doesn't worry about who gets credit. 😁

My CI in the toy bidnezz tells me there may be a Adam West 14" in our future.

Holy Smoke! hopefully Batman will not be passed over as it was when the short run of Captain Action was re-released a few years ago.

Nope. The article says DC characters. I'm sure he'll be there. Just hopefully not the painted on mask version. I like the removable cowl version. But remember, we have FTC as well.

Super excited for sulu and more possible Trek figures. But something about Harley Quinn just seems...off to me?

Marty is setup showing his new Megos; Wonder Woman, Batman (black and gray comic version) Joe Namath all 12 inches or better. For the regular Mego size besides what’s been shown already Lugosi Dracula and The Fonz as well as Action Jackson.

Harley Quinn looks like a red and black version of the Flying Nun. "Mr.J, you like me! You REALLY LIKE ME!"

I'd be interested to take a look at this Lugosi Dracula when there's a photo. A-BLUH, BLUH, BLUH!!!

Well, please help me understand this.....

From http://blogs.wvgazette.com/popcult/2018 ... d-at-sdcc/

First the article states that the new Mego “in an interesting and clever approach, releasing figures based on the most popular characters from classic TV shows, instead of pouring all their resources into producing the entire casts. I mean, back in the day, every kid wanted the Fonz, but nobody wanted Potsie or Ralph Malph.”

But then states....”Collectors can also look forward to .....”from Star Trek, a single figure of Mr. Sulu....”

So Sulu is the most popular character from Star Trek? Really? I mean, back in the day kids, like me, wanted Sulu? Not Kirk? Spock? An alternate or ‘Mirror Universe’ indeed.

Can anyone at SDCC ask Marty if they will available at retail in other countries, like Canada? ToysRUs are still very active here.

I’ll head over and find out about foreign distribution.
I think they’re just doing Sulu because the main figures were done just a couple of years ago by EMCE.

It’s an odd assortment, you can make your own Action League featuring Dracula, The Fonz, Jeannie, Sulu, a giant Batman and Alice from the Brady Bunch! Not sure I see this line being around long. The Dracula was really cool. The day I first saw the booth he was being interviewed so I didn’t want to take any pictures, but they’re all over the web now. The quality of the sculpts are nice.

It would be ironic if he got the Star Wars license, since passing on those figures essentially put Mego out of business.

They are also doing Chekhov, 14” Wonder Woman and characters from The Facts of Life. If I’d known they were selling them I would have grabbed a Lugosi Dracula.

They have no international distribution plans in place right now.

Pressbook which I saw at the show is now posted at the MegoMuseum.

This has to be the most bizarre assortment of figures I've ever seen from a Wave.
