Screen Test Tunic!

Post by Mark Racop »

Take a look at the screen-used screen test tunic worn by both Adam West and Lyle Waggoner! Peter Deyell says that the Robin tunic was one of three camera/color test tunics, but wasn't used for the screen test. Still cool, though! I was there to do a panel on Fiberglass Freaks' 1966 Batmobile replicas at the Bowling Green State University Batman Conference.

Did the cowl and cape survive?

Yas mate!
I did not make it, but by best buddy did!
He loved your Batmobile panel Mark, and said it was very informative about what you do.
He also sent me tons of pics of those costumes. I have questions about that robin tunic,
#1. It looks like it has long sleeves tucked in?
#2. Has there been mention ofRobin test suits that did not make the cut, for whatever reason? Color, materials ETC?
I know the Batman one changed, but the tunic that Burt and Peter wear in screen test looks the same.
I am not questioning anything, just wondering if that is common knowledge?
Looks like I missed a great time!

You missed a great time. There were many great panelists. As it turns out, the screen test cape and cowl are not part of the collection. The owner doesn't know if they survived, or if they were modified and used for the show.

The Robin tunic pictured was not used for the Burton Gervis (Ward) or Peter Deyell screen tests. Peter said there were three versions of the Robin costume. This one was used only as a camera test/color test to work out the R logo, etc.

Great news! Owner Troy is planning to bring these tunics to Batcon 2019 in Logansport, Indiana, on August 17th and 18th. He is also planning to bring screen-used costumes from the 1949 Robert Lowery and Johnny Duncan Batman movie serials!

Thanks, Ben! It was a lot of fun. I do four or five tours a week, so no problem on scheduling a time to make it happen. Next time you're stateside, be sure to come to Indiana.
