Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
It always bothered me that I don't really know what's spinning in the background when the red Bat zooms up and recedes. Does anyone know what it is? I think I partially saw a red label that looks like it's from the Batmobile - possibly the rollbar - but I really have no idea nor have I ever. Appreciate any help on this personally decades-old mystery.
"Hmmm... I don't like the twist this joke is taking. Let us away! Let us away!"
Re: Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
I think it was usually Batman and Robin looking at The Riddler's summons from the pilot.
Re: Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
Whatever it was, it is stock footage and is the same thing through the run of the series. Good question here! Anyone care to do some screen captures and see if we can get to the bottom of this? BTW, in a related topic, what episode is it where they did the Batspin every couple of seconds? Very annoying.

I believe it's a reflection of the Bat-emblem.Yellow Oval wrote:It always bothered me that I don't really know what's spinning in the background when the red Bat zooms up and recedes. I think the spin at the beginning of the title sequence is the Batmobile label you refer to.Yellow Oval wrote:It always bothered me that I don't really know what's spinning in the background when the red Bat zooms up and recedes. There were several frames used in the Bat-Spin Transition
-The Batmobile's "START BUTTON" label
-Batman and Robin looking at the summons
-Robin in a fight stance
-Commissioner Gordon

Re: Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
I think Robin is on the phone with Gordon from the pilot ("Can you plug me into the hotline?"), and I think Gordon is on the phone with Robin.

Re: Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
PS: In the scripts, they called the Bat spin transition the Bat Blip!
Re: Spinning Bat Transition Scene Question
Well the first one is Batman and Robin from the pilot.
No question about it.

Yes, that one spin is Robin on a black phone, the other is the Commish on the red phone. I believe there is one w/ Robin in a fighting stance? Not sure why I stated that and didn't show it back then??
There are others..These two are unidentified.
I don't have many scripts however in the pilot script they called these transitions "SPIN FRAME" which was either the spinning transition (above) or the colored bat which goes in and out/larger smaller over the clip (below).
Later in the series script "Catwoman Goes to College", they called it a "BAT SPIN"
