Celebrating 5 years of owning the complete series

Post by Jim K, Bat fan »

Hi all,

It occurred to me that it was 5 years ago this month that the Batman series was finally released on DVD and Blu-ray! In honor of that great moment in Bat history, and because we haven't had a poll in ages, I thought I would create two different polls! This first one is to see how our members own the series. I tried to list all the configurations - may have missed one! You may select all that apply. I have another poll coming regarding watching the series 5 years later.

Thanks for chiming in!

The poll makes me realize how insane I am-- I own the individual seasons, both green and red blu ray boxes, the complete purple DVD set as well as streaming versions. I need help.

Time really does fly...

I mean i'm not Andy-Fish-Insane, but I do have three of these releases :P

Here's the photo I took and shared across social media the day of release and the beautifully restored 1080 goodness was finally in my mits.

I'm with Andy on craziness. Both Green (Blu-ray and DVD), a couple of Red, and a purple Blu ray for watching on a big screen, + streaming (DVD conversion for my IPAD). Also had 2 different bootleg versions that are tossed.

I still had my DVDs that I made from when I taped the series on VHS back in 1989. I still remember the thrill of opening the box and getting the show, since I didn't think we ever would. I own the streaming version because it was free with the blu-ray set.

I love that my Green Box has a few extras the others don't like the Adam West "Naked" dvd and the script facsimile. That said, I sort of find it tough to store. It's too big for my media shelf, and it didn't come with digital copies. There are times I'd like to just sell it and buy the barebones blu ray edition for easy storage and access to the discs.

I only needed one blu-ray box set, and the case and extras (e.g. Batmobile) were/are stored in a cabinet for similar Blu-ray/DVD kinds of packaging.

I have to say, my favorite episodes are the first 2 (Batman Origin referenced, a little more serious that the rest), Catwoman episodes (season 1), and King Tut episodes.

Is “Adam West Naked” on the dvd/blu ray release? I bought mine on Vudu (digital) but always wanted to see the Adam West Naked dvds. Do I have to buy them separate?

"Naked" was originally released on DVD. Adam's official website lists it as "sold out" but i'm sure you will find them pre-owned perhaps on eBay or Amazon etc
