This costume is so bulky, he might as well be the Iron-Bat
How does 70year old Bruce Wayne move in this outfit? Powered exo-skeleton?

If I’m not mistaken, ”Batman Beyond” is actually Terry McGinnis (probably spelt that one wrong), not an elderly Bruce Wayne.

*Pushes up glasses:
I believe old Bruce reluctantly retires and gives Terry the suit- and the cave and car and his mentoring. We see Old Bruce briefly wear that suit in the pilot episode.

Thanks batrunner, I’m not very versed in Batman Beyond, so thanks for clearing it up. It does seem very clunky, how is one supposed to glide through the air in that?

Fits the bloated costumes of the rubber suit Batman era.

I think it is supposed to be an exoskeleton, but doesn’t translate well into 3D, like the Ironman versions. And the Batman begins TV series costume looks so streamlined.

The overly muscled designs are ludicrous. If he was built like this he wouldn’t be able to jump from building to building or even fight. Look at MMA fighters, look at Bruce Lee, even a heavyweight boxer isn’t this big. It just gets silly. The last good Batman editor IMO was Denny O’Neil and he said in his mind Batman was built like Roy Schieder in MARATHON MAN. He did 100 push-ups every morning and was taut.

I liked when Frank Miller made him bloated in DARK KNIGHT RETURNS because he was supposed to be 60 and past his prime.

Terry McGinnis in my mind is built more like Spider-Man, thin and graceful not a bulked up roid monster.

I often wonder if the red bat on the chest on a black background is an homage to the 1966 Batmobile door bats or wheel bats. Anyone know any inside story?

I'm 68 and "past my prime", but I've worked on getting back down to my college weight and I'm within 5 lbs. of getting there, (250 lbs. down to currently 155 lbs. at 5'10" tall), I'm now working out a bit so that I'll have the physical appearance of Ol' Bats back in the late 30's- early 40's. I guess FM used the "bloated" look to make a point. I just can't believe that even having retired, Bruce wouldn't keep up on his exercises.
