Before it was the pink cowl

Post by Chuck Williams »

Hi All!

Working on these now. A before and after the Mad Hatters radioactive spray.

What really makes these fun is that they are for the owner of the original pink cowl and that I have a 3D print of it as reference.

Before I spray it pink, I'm making it exactly as it was before the paint so if anything reads through , it will be authentic.
I've also done my best to make all the little landmarks, wrinkles, ripples and folds that allowed the identification of which particular cowl it was that became the pink cowl.

Amazing to watch it become more authentic with every wonky move as it came together....

Outstanding! Here is something I made when we discussed the pink cowl! Glad the correct initial cowl is being made first then converted to pink. Keep us posted!

simply beautiful Chuck. Like the Mad Hatter, the Pick cowl haunts my dreams. I hope to add one to my collection one day.

I can completely sympathize with the sleepless night while you're in the midst of planning something you're excited about. This is great, Chuck! THESE are the kinds of posts I hope to find when I pop on. Looking forward to following along.

Have you ever considered setting up a live feed in your studio and just keep it going for all of us to watch you 24/7? ;)

Thanks so much guys!!!

I've been at this one all day. All sorts of surprises during the painting!!!

Andy, Lynne and I are talking about doing a Q&A on Facebook, letting folks write questions and we'll answer them in a video response with a quick tour of the shops.

Chris Chaisson, wherever you are, this will make your eyes bleed it is so bright!

My camera can't seem to figure it out but it is bright fluorescent pink.
You can make out the painted face so I'm glad I took that step seriously.
I'm fairly happy with the wrinkle matching on the skirt. Got the key ones in there at least.

The owner offered a Geiger counter after seeing an early image!
I'll let it dry overnight and see where it's at...
I can finally exhale!

Ooh - almost hurts to see that beauty sprayed pink! Having seen the original, were there any overspray patterns inside it you were able to match? Wonder what kind of spray gun and paint were used on the original?
