Odd looking Bat Tie...HOLY WINDSOR KNOT, BATMAN!

Post by wally wingert »

Somebody sent me pictures of this tie and is looking for more info about it. Anybody of you detectives know anything about it?

To me, it looks like a specialty item for network execs when the show first came out, but I could be wrong.

Probably just one of the several variants from the Harvard Neckware Company as they used several Batman "logos". The red/maroon tie seen here has the exact same logo as the one you show.

Thanks! Brilliant!

One the backside of the tie it says it's 100% acetate. Had it been made for TV execs it would have been 100% silk, not cheapo acetate.

Great info!

Loving the turn around time between Wally's question- 3:08
and A.P.'s answer- 4:29.
some questions hang up here for days unanswered.
Less than an hour and a half.
I love this board.
Now I want one of those ties.

If I'm not mistaken they're boys ties-- I remember a tie rack retail display I saw in a catalog somewhere. These are definitely the ties though, I remember the logo placement.

I remember buying (bootleg?) versions of this tie on 8th Street in Greenwich Village in the mid-eighties, as I tried valiantly to inspire a 60s clothing revival...

A minor point but in the sixties (or at least in the UK) only men of considerable social standing would wear a full-Windsor knot. The average white-collar worker tied a half-Windsor and schoolboys used a four-in-hand.

Nowadays to see even a half-Windsor is a rarity.
