Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Thanks Guys!!
I plan on going authentic prop ...with a wooden base.
I have a photo somewhere of one of the batphones showing a simple piece of wood it's attached to.
I was dying of curiosity so I did a quick cast to clean out the mold and to see the color.
I have to wait 24 hours to see the result and I have no doubt it will be rough!
I suspect there will be a few tests to get the color, opacity and strength dialed in.

I can not wait to get my gloves on one of these babies. As always, Chuck, u r the master.
I just finished a little shrine close to my desk for my Williams cowl, capelet & Adam "face", and have other Williams masterpieces in my enclosed bookcases. Going to start on a display area for the upcoming Batphone and Shakespeare soon...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Some whirlwind learning has been happening in the shop...
Translucent color versus solid. Internal gels? How many lamination of glass and what weight?
All this and much more because it's not figured out yet...
What did it actually look like on set versus what I want it to look like... Always tough!!
BUT, the good news is that I'm pretty comfortable with the phone itself.
I think I found the right vintage phone they used.
The more I work with it and compare images with the original, it's looking really good.
The subtle arching curve across the front and sides and the depth of the dish are the clinchers for me.
I wouldn't make it a hair higher for the Commissioners phone. I need to trim about 3/4" for the Wayne Manor phone.
Bare with me and I think I'll have something worthy eventually...

The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!

I think I may have the color and finish dialed in.
The color makes the casting look like a fairly standard matte-ish red plastic until it's lit.
We still get the read through of the glass when lit.
I am using a lower wattage lamp in these photos so it's not blowing out the color or exposure.
To top it off, here are a couple of shots of it with the Batphone from the car on my screen. Taken with the same camera.
It photographs the same. In person, it's a bit deeper red.
OK, I hope I can sleep tonight!

Hey Chuck,
Just a an Idea for you. It's gets a bit involved but if you use a dimmer switch on your lamp you can dial in the brightness to your liking and then use a a light meter to find the correct wattage or lumens for an LED bulb. Or just eyeball it.
Good Luck, It's Looking Great.
