RIP Malachi Throne, aka False Face

Post by SprangFan »

Huge bummer. I will always remember him as Noah Bain on "It Takes A Thief," still an all-time fave.

This is so sad. He was always a blast to meet and encounter.

Thanks for the news Scott. Malachi had mentioned in an e-mail awhile back that he wasn't feeling well. I sent him my 'get well' wishes, and he said what he had you don't get well from. He never elaborated further. The last time I saw him he had laryngitis, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it or not. I'm sure we'll get more details as time goes on.

Not only did we lose another great Batman villain, but we all lost a good friend! He loved hanging out with the fans, doing the appearances, seeing the cosplayers dressed up as his False Face character. He was never above popping on a False Face mask and mugging for the camera.

We should remember his wife Marjorie in our prayers as well, as I'm sure this is very tough for her. Also please keep his son Zach Throne in your thoughts as well.

Rest in peace, Mal.

Throne outlived his moll, Myrna Fahey by almost 40 years. She died of cancer in May 1973 at the much-too-young age of 40. Ironically, what would have been her 80th birthday was two days ago.

He will grace the next stage as much as he did while on this earthly one.

Such a distingushed career, and I cannot recall the man ever giving a poor performance--even on schlock such as Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.

When I got home later in the day, I checked through my e-mails and found the last e-mail I had gotten from Malachi back in September of 2012. It was very cryptic...

Dear Wally,

Sorry to be so withdrawn but what I;ve got doesn't go away with chicken soup——Hope you all are doing well.
Have fun,
Malachi

And I never heard from him again....

I figure right now he's engaging God in a conversation to see if he really did sound like Him!

Due to the time difference, I woke up this morning to this saddening news.

Malachi was truly one of the 'good guys'. His two-parter is still one of my favorite storyline's on the show and has been ever since I was very young. I had the pleasure of meeting Malachi with many of you at the Anaheim show back in April 2010, he was a great man to speak with and the fun element was really evident as we fooled around taking pictures of our group with him. The fun we had was so contagious, Lee Meriwether got in on the act and both were kind enough to take the photo below with us.

RIP Mr Throne, you will be missed.

RIP Malachi! I remember meeting him in Detroit in 2006, and it was a memorable time, just as his episode was one of the very best ever produced. My prayers and condolences go out to his family.

He was one I always wanted to meet and never had the chance. I'm amazed at how many great series he appeared on! What a talent....

I went to the Anaheim show in 2010 specifically to meet him. Had a chance to speak with him and his lovely wife for several minutes during a quiet time at the show. What a great guy and what an incredible amount of quality work he leaves behind. God Bless him and prayers to his family.
