Licensed 1:1 Bat Shield replica

Post by danbar »

Paragon FX Group plans to make/sell licensed full-scale replicas of the 1966 Bat Shield. They appear to be a new company, or at least I have never heard of them before. They state that this item is currently in development, but you can sign up to be notified of updates.

Letters are off (style and placement), blue outline way too light/wrong shade. Cool that someone is making them, but this needs the "Alex" level of detail to be a winner (glad I have my Alex version, he was the Chuck Williams of Bat Shields)...

Definitely intriguing that someone has taken interest in this on a licensed level after all this time.

As stated this is a prototype of sorts, so hopefully there is time for revisions to be made. This side of a ridiculously low price-point, IMHO the vast majority of those who are interested enough to own a Bat-Shield and have the pockets to do so have already had a more accurate version of this in their collection for years courtesy of Alex. If Mattel had pursued this, I could have understood a toy-leaning take on this item, (like with their belt and cowl), but an FX/Prop house going after this requires an attention to detail that i'm not personally seeing in these initial images.

To add to the critiques that SVL made above, the color scheme and lettering would almost make me believe that the manufacturer is using some of the looser interpreted replicas or even toys as a reference point. I'm also intrigued as to the dimensions of this shield, given how it is reading in the photographs and the fact Paragon as supposedly recreating this at 1:1.

So far there isn't any pricing for any of the items that Paragon will be offering that we could even gauge as a reference point, so i'm definitely interested to see where they will be positioning themselves.

Looking at the backdrop they used to photograph this, if that's a standard window the shield is approx. 30" wide and maybe 40" or so tall.
