Silver Bond car in bubble top box announced for October. My guess this means the Batmobile will be in the fall

Another NEAT-O item! I wish I shared your optimism for release date, if they haven't even officially announced it yet I'm thinking 2025 at the earliest.

The Silver DB5 was posted on FB by them. I noted that it was a color variant, but actually the color of the car in the Goldfinger movie and forward. I also commented on other releases they were showing regarding the 1966 Batmobile, but their comment was that licensing was expensive. I countered with "you'll sell more of this car then all your releases combined". Then added the variant possibilities (red wheels, etc). We'll see if their product manager is on the ball.

Hmmm on Corgi Club's new answer. I was under the impression it was a done deal. If you're on Facebook, it would be a good idea to give them positive encouragement. See screenshot.

In the email newsletter they sent out this morning it says the Silver DB5 Bond car is slightly bigger than the Gold version-
Here's what they said;

We're pleased to announce that 2024 will see us release the model you've all been asking for Corgi 270, the iconic silver Bond DB5 complete with its early iconic 'bubble’ packaging ~ features that are extremely sought after by collectors!

We will of course also include the secret instructions, lapel badge, number plate stickers and spare baddie ~ all as per the original. Slightly larger than 1965's gold Corgi 261, all of the features of that model are retained but with added rotating number plates and rear wheel tyre slashers. To many, this is their favourite (Brits can't spell ;)) Corgi Bond car!

To add to this good news, we're also putting Corgi 447 into the collection! This much-requested earlier version of the Wall's Ice Cream Van comes with two figures, a full set of stickers and a high quality facsimile of the original's display plinth and box. Predating Corgi 474 (the chimes version) by around six months, Corgi 447 is something of a forgotten Corgi classic. Many thanks to all those who suggested we replicate it, as it's a really lovely model and we’re really pleased with it.

This all adds up to an exciting year ahead for the Corgi Model Club. And of course there's more yet to come!

I'm sure I'll be in for the "bubble version" 007 car-- and as I said before I'm definitely getting at least a half dozen Batmobiles if they do them- and maybe a full dozen. Be a really cool display to make.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. So maybe Corgi will move faster on this.

Corgi just announced it's a done deal.
You'll have to be a Corgi Club Member to get the matt black one but the glossy will be available to everyone-- but this is great news!

Here's the email;

We've only gone and done it ~ the Batmobile is coming your way this October!

Not only that, there will be two versions ~ in both MATT and GLOSS black finishes. The MATT black version was the ORIGINAL 1966 Corgi Batmobile, produced for only six months. It was superseded by the GLOSS version in 1967.

For Corgi collectors, the MATT Batmobile is the ‘Holy Grail’ ~ one of the most sought after Corgi Toys ever. We’re pleased to announce that our edition of the MATT Batmobile will be EXCLUSIVELY available only to members of the Corgi Model Club ~ a Club we have only recently launched in the USA.

For more information and details of how to join the Club, click here.

For non-Club members, the version we’ll be placing for sale in our online store will be the GLOSS black Corgi Batmobile. This will be available to pre-order from our online store later this month.

Both versions will be available in October this year.

In true Corgi Model Club style the Batmobile will come in a fantastic facsimile of the original 1960s style of box, complete with fold-out display and plinth, plus envelope with instructions, 12 missiles and a Batman lapel badge.

The model itself is a perfect working replica of the original, with Batman and Robin figures, gold wheels with red bats, a pop-out front chain slasher blade, triple rocket launchers (which satisfyingly propel the missiles via the knurled wheel) and a turbo exhaust flame that thrusts in and out.

Because of the increased costs involved in manufacturing the Batmobile ~ it is a fully licensed model and with all the features of the original ~ the exclusive Corgi Model Club members-only MATT edition will be $39.99. The GLOSS black edition from our online store will be $49.99.

For Corgi Model Club members that represents a generous $10.00 saving!!

Also note the two new additions on our collection list for 2025 ~ the much-requested Chevrolet Police Car and another that many have been asking for, Corgi 406, the Land Rover 109 WB. This will be in blue with a white roof. Because of the Batmobile addition, Corgi 270 will now be our January release.

More info ~ and pics of the Batmobile as we finalise the factory samples ~ coming soon!

It's great news for collectors. I want to join the Corgi Club to buy the matte Batmobile in October but I don't want to buy every car they send monthly. Maybe I will join in October and then pause after I order the Batmobile. They also sell an exclusive tin can to hold the certificate of authenticity.

That was my thought too-- some of the cars are fun, and I have a couple, but I'll hold until October and then grab a few Batmobiles. It'd be fun to setup a store styled display.

Will the matte Batmobile have the first issue large Robin (same size as Batman) and the gloss Batmobile have the smaller regular Robin?

The matte should have the larger Robin since their niche is exact replicas of the first issue.

UPDATE CORGI REPLIED: "Robin will be larger / but mainly for practical reasons, to stop him falling out!"
