The Killing Joke and the Batman/Harley Quinn straight to home release movie immediately spring to mind.

Yes to Ben-- I've not liked pretty much ANY of the animated movies-- they lack a lot of fun, and to be honest even the Adam West pair weren't my cuppa-- they felt like extensions of Season Three-- and I want less of Season Three.
I share my Vudu account with my sons and one of them buys pretty much every DC Animated movie so I've tried a few-- the only one I actually enjoyed was BATMAN: NINJA which shocked me because the only Anime I've ever liked are a few of Miyazaki's better films. The rest I found bleak or overly melodramatic.
Despite having worked in animation, I'm not much of an animation guy-- I like my cartoons short like Bugs Bunny or the Fleischer Superman's.

"Mask of the Phantasm" is still my favorite Batman Feature film of all time. Holds up way better than any of the live action ones to date for me, IMHO.

It’s very cool they’d take the time to do that.Lounge lizard wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2024 5:34 am Just a little nod to the 1966 series: https://tinypic.host/image/1000000760.DNkyIM

Wow, what with one thing and another I'd missed this entirely! I do have time for the retro-Catwoman look but what they've done to Harley looks just yet another abomination of the character.
Re: Batman: Caped Crusader first look photos
I am the poster child for short attention span-- I finally sat down and actually watched the trailer. Here are my takeaways in case anyone is interested;
I like the Bat Man design, I wish they had leaned into the 1939 look full and gave him the light blue interior on his cape or the light blue gloves, but the design is interesting.
I don't love the Bat Man voice, tired of the Kevin Conroy version.
Two Face, Catwoman, Clayface all looked terrific-- nicely redone with a pulp flair.
I'm not sure where they're going with Harley, but she's one of the most overused characters in modern Batman so I'm glad to see a different take. Also glad to see The Joker nowhere to be found, he's overused too.
Alfred is fat, homage to the original Alfred Beagle-- big smile time for me.
I wish it had more of a 1930s feel rather than a 1950s feel but at least it's noir ish.
Batmobile is a little plain - I get it-- he started out driving a nondescript car which actually makes a lot more sense, but it would have been neat if they went with the open roadster he drove in Detective #37.

All I can say is you will like this show, if not love it. Embargo lifts on the 28th, after the SDCC panel. I can say more then- if anyone is interested.

I trust your judgement on these matters, Sir. I feel like you and I are on the same page most of the time. Looking forward to hearing your insights post-28th!Jimmy L. 66 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 4:48 pm All I can say is you will like this show, if not love it. I'd like to know if Paul Dini is writing some episodes. I think he was key to the success of the BTAS.Jimmy L. 66 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 4:48 pm All I can say is you will like this show, if not love it. Embargo lifts on the 28th, after the SDCC panel. I can say more then- if anyone is interested.

Re: Batman: Caped Crusader first look photos
I’m 3 1/2 episodes in
Not sure
I like the film noir look
Batman isn’t in it a lot, which I understand that’s how these things work, but actual screen time is less than other Batman cartoons IMO.
There are mostly woman and minorities present which is fine, I understand inclusion. I think the Batman s voice is ok
So far the word “ Alfred” hasn’t been uttered
, Batman calls him Pennyworth, I wonder if that will get explained or is it a hint to watch the MAX show of the same name. I see potential here, but It’s not keeping my interest
I was excited for it, and I’ll watch them all. But I’m just at a place where it seems …. Just seems they made this to push an agenda and not entertain . I like the look of Batman , would have loved the purple gloves and a blue interior of cape or highlights. Little Easter eggs in places, look for a Jack Pierce one. And a few others

Re: Batman: Caped Crusader first look photos
Once again, not for me. I found it to be junk. To be fair, I watched 1.5 episodes but I'm done.
Not interested. The worst things I'd heard about it are accurate.
For those of you who like it-- good for you-- I'm glad-- but this is just more Bruce Timm nonsense.
