Maybe I’m losing track, but did we know about this one?

6 inch scaled (down)?

WHYYYYYyyyyyyyy???!!! Why are there so many “almost, but not quite” releases? 🤦🏻‍♂️

If you’re going to do it, do it right.

As a fan (and someone who owns a few 1:1 replica ‘rangs from the show), I can’t defend it but on a practical level I can hypothesise exactly why Factory Ent decided to scale this down.

Shipping size and weight is a big part of this (they went with metal after all), then overall price point plays probably the most significant role. Factory Ent have been burned on the GH license (in particular) with a surplus of 1:1 highly detailed premium prop replicas that they continue to have a really hard time getting rid of at anything short of a loss. So given that this is in the sub $50 range, I believe all of these above reasons are major factors in the decision to scale these down.

I just think that they will sell far fewer scaled down batarangs than if they had gone full scale, even at a higher price point. It’s not like they have to so be ridiculously unaffordable. Aluminum is not that expensive. You can buy an entire cast aluminum garden bench for $89. They already have the license, why not use another dollar’s worth of aluminum, add $30 to the price and make it 1:1? I would have been in for that, but I won’t be in for a half scale one.

Honestly, I believe it boils down to how many can ship in a case. I would need to measure, but my 1:1 replicas are approximately 1ft from tip to tip.

Wow, Ben, I would not have thought of that. I guess that sort of makes some sense. Something so mundane may very well be the reason. 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s another example of what my friend and I call FNF: “funny, not funny.”

Eh. another hard pass. There's no point in buying a so-called prop replica that's undersized. I'd rather buy a machined fan version made with attention to accuracy than an official release that's wrong out of the gates.

I have a full-size Cliff Young folding Batarang from the original show molds. It works for me.
