I have it sitting next to my 1/12 monitor refrigerator for scale. Not screen accurate, to be sure, but at least a decent representation. I tried my best to find a miniature version of the same statue seen in the movie, but this was as close as I could find. It’s actually a brass buddha statue that I modified and added a black base to.
I made the base by pressing the statue into some sculpy clay deep enough to make a base and, by using the statue to press into the mold, the base would also exactly match the shape for the statue to rest upon. Then I removed the statue and took a small rectangular dowel and pressed “feet” deeper into the modeling clay. Then I filled this mold with hot glue and pressed the statue into the top of the hot glue, waited for it to cool and removed the clay. Then I painted the base black.
My Brass Asian statue to go with the 1/12 scale 1966 Batman movie Villain’s Lair.

It’s funny because I have never really paid that much attention to that statue, but as soon as I saw your photo I knew exactly what you were going for!

Thanks, Ben. I’m the guy that spots odd little things when I watch a movie or TV show. The shadow of a boom mic, for example, hits me like a 2 x 4 over the head. Set pieces that disappear and reappear, or move to a different location, or maybe a vintage travel or art show poster taped to a wall in the background. That sort of thing.
I’ve been wanting to complete a Villain’s lair diorama since Mattel came out with their 1/12 figures. Had no idea that McFarlane would provide several pieces to make it easier. Will use some of the McFarlane pieces and upgrade what I can.

Picked it up off of eBay. Something like $3-$4 with free shipping from China. I don’t even know how that’s possible.
