Re: MaFarlane Detective 27 statue
Big fan of the '39 Bat Man-- this is a swing and a miss-- something doesn't look right. Maybe Batman is too bulky? The rope wire sticking out that my future grandkids will lose an eye on? I don't love the head sculpt which looks like the action figure.
How can I like the soon to be released '66 Batman statue and not like this? I don't know. I have trouble understanding myself sometimes.

Re: MaFarlane Detective 27 statue
I'm with you, something's off.
Maybe it's the fact that the figures are many times larger than the buildings they're supposed to be swinging from, and it looks like the thug could simply put his feet down to resolve his peril. Or maybe it's that the hold Batman has him in looks pretty darn fatal. Or it could be the obvious, massive beam that's holding the figures up. More likely it's just that no matter how good a sculptor is, it takes more than adding a third dimension to make a Bob Kane image look close to "right" (even if he mostly stole it from Alex Raymond).
I'm a hard sell with "scene" statues anyway. I tend to prefer simple figures. Years ago I passed on a DC Direct statue of Supergirl emerging from her rocket to greet an astonished Superman (recreating the cover to Action Comics #252), and for the same general reason. It looked fine, and it's kind of cool that artists can work out how bring an old cover to life in 3D, but not cool enough for me to put it on a shelf.

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse."

No surprise that I agree with Sprang here.
You know, I actually like Lou's original title here of Ma Farlane-- I think that's a better name than McFarlane anyway-- and it will stop confusing me with one of my publishers McFarland.

This is the McFarlane figure set I'm really looking forward to-Batman vs. Monsterverse Kong from the Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong series! Too bad the Bat-mecha Batman used wasn't done. Wish they would have had a Superman vs Godzilla one as well but the licensing proved to be too difficult. I might get that Detective 27 McFarlane depending on the price and shipping to Japan, hopefully some of the local hobby retailers will carry it.

Thanks Andy and Lou! Having it shipped to my middleman’s house and he can pack it with a bunch of other stuff to save on shipping.

What? No purple gloves! The error is a tragedy of biblical proportions.
