Justice League calendar mystery hero
This year I have enjoyed this Justice League calendar which was featured on the 13th Dimension last year:

I agree that the artwork is probably my favorite, but I have a question - if you look at the photo showing the back cover of the calendar (where all the months are shown), who is the female hero in the bottom right corner? She is featured this month, and I haven't a clue who that is!
Thank you!

Zattana? Zatanna? That'd be my guess. I stopped reading comics by the time this era came along.

Apparently that’s the new version of Zatanna.

Beat me to it, Andy.
What the heck is that red lump going through the middle of her head? No wonder she always wore a top hat.
Reminds me a little of “the Tingler” from the old Vincent Price movie.

Zatanna's early-80s costume update always struck me as unfortunate, and I particularly hated that carapace-y looking headpiece. I get that a top hat isn't very practical as battle gear, but it was good enough for Zatanna's dad Zatara (and for Mandrake, the model upon which Zatara was based). A "TAH YATS NO!" spell was really all that was required.

Ah, Mandrake the Magician! The first Mandrake comic book I owned was the oversized Feature Book 18 from 1938. I was just a kid and had never seen anything like it. Can’t remember where I found it. Possibly a yard sale. I don’t know where it is now. It may still be at my parents’ property. I haven’t seen it in ages, but the photo below is what it looked like.
“Carapace-y.” That’s an appropriate descriptor, Jim.

Bringing the worlds together-- The Tingler is a fun movie-- and they just showed it on SVENGOOLIE recently.

That's George Perez' redesign of Zatanna's outfit and while it has nowhere near the charm of the fishnets-and-top hat original, it should be remembered that in between we had this godawful eyesore:

So at the time, it was a definite step up. As almost anything would have been.

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse."
