I thought you guys may find this interesting. My Bambu Lab 3D printer has a website with a basically free tool that lets you upload one photo and it makes a 3D printable model from it. Some stuff I tried didn't fair very well but this is an example of something that did. Not bad details for a small print object and it would be a great starting point to take into other sculpting programs to modify.
I took a car photo into it and the program added the bottom details like the axles and pipes. My Batmans back details look great too and none of that was in the photo. It also made the cape thick enough to print. The tech is going crazy lately. Only one photo!
Also, I want to point out his one long finger. It printed and the object is only 3" tall. Great detail for a non resin printer. I think I will try to make some little seated figures for my cars.

Re: 3D image converter
Whoa!! I guess AI drives the modeling which would allow it to generate the details of the side(s) that are not seen?
Re: 3D image converter
Yes, in the same way it did on my Gordon and O'Hara face sculpts also created with one photo. I did do further work modifying those but the AI generated all sides from one pic.

I love you work. The figure has enough details to be reminiscent of the Marx Marvel Comics figurines from the 1960s:

Are you planning to paint the figure or leave it in the blue color. Additionally, what are your plans--if any--for other Bat '66 figures of this kind?

I have always been a big fan of the one color, green army men style and the Marx plastic toys. I think toy companies are missing the mark not giving us a bag of Avengers or such in this form. My Batman resulted from a test of the modeling program that I discovered just last night and about one hour later, I'm holding this great Batman. That is so fun to me but I haven't made any master plan what to do with them yet.BATWINGED HORNET wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 9:54 am I love you work. I'm in the middle of several new projects that I'm also excited about but yes, I will continue with these. I'm not sure if I just got lucky here or they will really be this easy moving forward. My sculpting skills are getting better too so I'm getting to the point of anything is possible.
I will keep this one and print another to paint. One thing i realized is the details don't really have to be there at such a small size and that makes this easier to do.
I'm pleasantly suprised my FDM printer did such a great job at this small size. Normally these types of things are done with resin printers.
I will also add a few details and sculpt mods and make a base like the Marx have and print one that large to see how it looks.
Who do you want me to do next?

Re: 3D image converter
Completely agree. Does anyone remember when the Marx molds were being used in Mold-a-Rama vending machines at amusement parks back in the early 70s where you could pay a dollar or two to have your choice of a Marvel figure made before your very eyes?rsaffle wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 11:23 am

They had a few (at least two) of those machines at Kings Island in Cincinnati.
How about a Julie Catwoman (of course, my favorite villain back in the 1960s)? Or a 1:1 Catwoman pistol (although I’m guessing you have already made one of those, and I want one)!

BiffPow wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2025 11:38 amHow funny! I had not made a Catwoman pistol before, but that is exactly what I was doing over the weekend. I will show it off ASAP. Using the recent auction photos from the original prop and the measurements, I have made a much more accurate prop than the ones that have been floating around for so long and I was super excited at how it looks so far. It will be one of my best props. My dream is to electroplate the gold on but that will not happen on my first ones so I should just shut up about that. LOL
I made the Kitt model but from what I can see the scope, dart vs bullet and belt attachments are the only differences.
Never heard of the Mold a Rama machine but I would have put it to work!

Is that a photo of Hubie Kearns? the pose looks familiar.
Re: 3D image converter
Yes it was.

Re: 3D image converter
So the “long finger” is actually the tip of the cape sticking out of his hand! That makes sense.
Count me in on one of those pistols, please!

Amazed at what AI can do with a 2d photo, still needs a human artists touch- for now. Really cool figure and this program opens a world of possibilities.

Re: 3D image converter
Sounds great! The AI is impressive, but I'm finding that Batman turned out great compared to most of my results. Last night's efforts are not ready to go straight to the printer. They are good starting points though. Here are some of the better results. Program tends to thicken them up in places and the photo resolution doesn't seem to change results much. I'm going to take a few into my sculpting program and see what I can do with them.
