After sewing on and off for the past few months, my Batgirl costume is finally nearing completion! All I need to do now is finish the pouches and belt buckle, and make sure the wig is styled correctly.

The gloves and cowl (which I don't yet have any pictures of) are from the amazing GVMDesigns on Ebay, who I believe is also a member here. I used a unitard pattern I had from a previous Harley Quinn costume for the bodysuit, which was definitely the hardest part. The royal blue stretch lame I initially ordered wouldn't take the dye, but thankfully I found a purple stretch lame afterward. I lost count of how many alterations it took to get the suit to fit properly. The cape was based on a vintage pattern my grandmother had used to make a velvet cape for my mother's prom. Speaking of my grandmother, I can't thank her enough for all of her help during this process.
The boots, which I also need to photograph, are purple vinyl covers glued onto kitten heel shoes. Tonight I'm planning to make the belt buckle out of InstaMorph moldable plastic and paint it, as well as create the four belt pouches. I'm also going to finish styling the hairpiece. The wig I originally planned to use wouldn't fit onto the cowl, so I sewed wefts of synethic hair onto a headband and am using that. It's a shame my own hair isn't a few inches longer, because colorwise, it's perfect.
I'm planning to have the whole thing completed this weekend so I can hopefully wear it to the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, where Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar will be appearing. Thanks so much to this forum and the archive for all your great advice about this costume!
