^ Agreed!
As far as special features go commentaries are the most important thing to me.
I'm fairly satisfied with what I'm hearing, I do find it strange that Batgirl isn't showcased at all though. The packaging and art is fine IMO but I would have loved to see what Alex Ross would have done with it.

I don't know... if there were Episode Commentaries, wouldn't they have been touted with the other extras? Like "Episode commentaries on select episodes by West, Ward, Yvonne Craig, and many other stars involved in the production!"
I'm assuming there won't be. Usually a company would mention that.

Don't think there are commentaries.
There is a special Diamond exclusive through comic shops that includes a hardcover book with behind the scenes pics. Not sure if it's a bigger edition of Adams scrapbook or something else. It was announced at the Diamond Comic shop retailers event today.

So lets talk actual features of the discs themselves, not the bonus disc. I can guess there is not an isolated music option?

Damn it, I knew there would be other exclusive sets.
Is the Diamond book with the DVD or Blu Ray, Andy?

Yeah, see. Now we're getting to the meat and potatoes. The actual discs themselves.

Yes...I'm beating a dead horse...but the Batgirl Pilot is not on the Batmania set so whatever hoops needed to be jumped through to include it here should have been jumped through.
As for the Batmobile and cards...who cares? There are dozens of Batmobiles available on the market so what purpose does it serve here?
Celebrity comments? I can see Conan O'Brien and then C and D list people like Wayne Knight, Carrot Top, Barry Williams and others. Collectibles? Search YouTube or eBay.
I hate to be so negative, but how can those involved not have a better pulse on what collectors want as extras?
Like many here have commented, the uncut series should be what we're all thankful for...and they are exactly right. But the set could have and should have been so much more.

The TV version is associated with the series' downslide, and is not key to the main identity of the series like Batman, Robin or the villains.bat lugosi wrote:I do find it strange that Batgirl isn't showcased at all though
That, or perhaps it has something to do with Yvonne business behind the scenes?

I agree with Batmite. Grateful for the uncut restored episodes, disappointed in the bonus material and lack of disc features. The Bat Laff cards would have been the way to go btw. 1989 saw a remake of these already.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Bummer that the Batgirl pilot isn't among the extras. We do have fragments of it in decent resolution on one of the existing bat-ephemera DVDs, but... only having it in fragments is disappointing.
The pricing is pretty much what I was expecting. If they haven't promoted having commentaries, I would imagine that means there are no commentaries. Surely they would want to use those as a selling point, if they were part of the set.
I'm a bit disappointed, but not surprised. My disappointment will wear off.
I'm not going to declare, with the sort of viciousness and hyperpole I've seen so often on (for instance) Dr. Who forums, my undying hatred for all involved with this release. Merely having the series released at all is an amazing surprise from which I am still reeling.

I'm not surprised some people are disappointed. With the years of waiting and then the hype and hoopla how could it live up to inflated expectations.
Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
I believe the diamond exclusive is blu ray, but I'd bet they'd do something dvd too.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Considering I've already waited 40+ years for this, I figure I can make it through a couple more, until it all comes out at cheaper prices and broken down by seasons. Does that mean I'm not a "true fan"? Eye of the beholder, I guess. Of course it's pretty likely I'll miss out on the extras that way, but from what's been announced, that's no great loss. Frankly, I'd be willing to pass on the whole 3rd season, let alone a bunch of interviews with non-players.
Re: Commentaries, I thought Burt Ward was on record as saying they'd been recorded? Or did he just say he and Adam had done "something"? Is it possible commentaries are coming out on everything including the "standard" DVDs, and so they don't get a special mention here because they're only listing what's "over and above" the standard package?

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse."
