New Batgirl Fabric finally used!!!

Post by Catgreg »

Hey guys, it been like a year since i sourced the new Batgirl fabric and I have finally gotten around to making a prototype suit!

All in all, I am happy with the material and especially its bias stretch and ability to conform to the curves of the mannequin and 60s bra. still a long way to go, but wanted to share the progress. I want to take some shots tomorrow in daylight, because the color looks so different!!!

Looks great Greg!!

I like how it drops into shadow a little more and the highlights are not as "Christmas tree like".

And as always, I love your displays!!!

All the best,
Chuck...

Thanks guys, yeah its so weird, the fabric in person looks much redder under artificial light and much bluer under natural light, and it never, ever photographs the way the eye sees it!!!

"Your eyes can deceive you, don't trust them", to quote a famous elderly, semi-retired Jedi Knight.

Excellent costume. I love the fabric.

Is it a stretch lamé? The shimmer of it almost looks more like a hologram spandex - less surface texture than a typical lamé.

That is pretty cool. :D

Can you post a deep closeup of the material? I curious about the weave density, the prevalence and color of the metallic portion, and how it works. I've been trying various things for years to replicate the look of this material with 3D graphics, but always have to cheat and fake certain effects because I don't know enough about the fabric to try to model a physically accurate shader. In a recent discussion about the material at a 3D graphics forum, someone suggested that there was a fluorescent effect to fabrics of this type. I've never seen any information which might support that idea, but I have been wondering if it might be true. :?

I guess I have a bunch of fiddley, goofy, and/or slightly off-topic questions about the fabric, then. Umm. :?
