Was this actually produced if so when?

Post by John Mack »

Came across this today and was wondering if this was this actually produced, or is it a fan creation? Anyone know? Couldn't find any on ebay, but I sure found a lot of people that call Hot Wheels Matchboxes, and not just keyword spammers lol.

Pretty sure that's a home made custom by artist Al Bigley, and believe it or not he did some that were even cooler. See some here:

If he didn't do this particular one, I'm guessing someone took his idea and ran with it. I'd do it myself if I had the skill.

"Or worse."

Once again, thanks Sprang. How did I know it looked too good to be retail?

There were a series of those, some that went for very big money featuring Christopher Franchi's artwork (Metaluna). Looks like someone ran with it. Love this creativity, even though this is a Mattel Hot Wheels car mounted in a Mattel Matchbox packaging - Love that irony.

Here's his Kane version of Infantino art: Image
