1940s movie Batman, Mego scale

Post by Lou Szabo »

A guy named Vin (Vin’s Universe) has been making some customs of various figures. Here’s his version of one of the 1940’s movie Batman figures. Not complete yet, but you get the idea. He’s on Etsy and EBay

Batch one shipping soon, Batch 2 is just about filled up but will ship mid to late Jan. - If you want the Blue Version those will be early Feb.

Micky Mulitsch and I have been helping him along with design input-- I think he hit a home run. Cape is a little long, but that's an easy fix.
I'm in for a black AND a blue!
Box is one I had ordered from Tony for a 12" figure-- it looks great in person.
This has been a very expensive month.

Looks better than the actual human version.

Got it in hand-- I have to say it looks ever better in person-- painting on the eyes is remarkable. The box is super high glossy and quite nice as well.

He's doing a blue version later, I'll be in for one of those too.
Really incredible work on this-- the Raygun is a great touch. He has a Robin in the works, I'm not sure I'll take the plunge on that-- never been a Robin fan although Doug Croft in the first serial is the only live action version I've liked (Sorry Burt).

Costume looks and fits better on the figure than the one worn in the serial.

Poor Lew always got a bad rap about being out of shape or his costume fitting poorly-- I think like Adam he suffered from a very unforgiving costume and a stuntman who was a bit on the paunchy side. In costume test shots (like this one) he looks good. Translating a drawing into a 3D costume is never an easy thing to do.

I guess once you move around, it starts to look baggy. Maybe they had it clipped behind him for the publicity photos?

It would be nice if the cowl came off as well. But I like it!

GREAT JOB!

Can someone post a close up of the raygun handle please? I have been working on a model of this but I can't find any images of the handle area and I would like to see what they did.

Not much to the handle-- but as you can see not much is visible when he's holding it-- I also switched out the cape it came with to a standard Doc Mego type cape and I think it works better.
