A Letter from Lewis Wilson (The Original Batman)

Post by AndyFish »

Recently found this online-- a fan wrote to Lewis Wilson during the run of the '66 Show...
WILSON LETTER 1.jpg
WILSON LETTER 2.jpg
WILSON-3.jpg
Interesting to hear he was interested in getting back into the pictures-- I had always heard he was happy to be out.

The era of actors that made “pictures” love this. I wonder who is or was the last actor that referred to them as “pictures” sometimes in old interviews they act like, and Im sure it was “a job” yes some were huge stars but most were working actors. Like a lot of the baseball players of the pre war era they rode the trolleys or trains home with the fans.

They seemed to have stopped referring to them as "pictures" in the 70s.
But I agree- there's a real charm to this kind of speaking/thinking.

Amazing discovery, Andy. The paper, ink, and handwriting remind me of a time long before email and everything internet when people would write as even long-distance phoning was deemed too expensive and reserved only for holiday calling, birthdays, and urgent news be it good or bad. Bic Pens must have made a mint back then. In any event, this glimpse into Lewis' mind has ignited an urge for me to watch him in the serial again. I love nothing more than going back to the '40s to watch Batman, The Falcon, and so many film noir movies. Thanks for this.
