UPCOMING EVENT: "A Tribute to Director Robert Butler" @ UCLA

Post by Ben Bentley »

EVENT:
"From Batman to Hill Street Blues: A Tribute to Director Robert Butler" | UCLA Film & Television Archive

Myself, Scott and other friends of the Message Board are getting together in April to attend this really great Tribute to Robert Butler. By all means we would love it if other members of this Board were able to join us. Nearer the time we will be scheduling a late-lunch/early dinner prior to the event. Join us, won't you?

When?
April 13th, 2024 - 7:30pm

Where?
Billy Wilder Theater, 10899 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90024
( * Located inside the Hammer Museum * )

Cost?
Admission is free. No advance reservations. Your seat will be assigned to you when you pick up your ticket at the box office. Seats are assigned on a first come, first served basis. The box office opens one hour before the event.

You can read all about the event on the link below, I personally am excited that "Hi Diddle Riddle/Smack In The Middle" will be shown on the Big-Screen during this event.

Scott, Alex, Ruben, Jimmy and Myself had a really wonderful dinner in West LA followed by a great time at the Robert Butler tribute event. It was incredibly cool to get to watch "Hi Diddle Riddle/Smack in The Middle" on the big screen with an audience. Director and actor Thomas Carter gave a really heartfelt speech about Robert's work and their friendship over the years.

It was truly a unique and fun experience to enjoy the show on the big screen with so many other people. Lots of laughs, some files noticing things, that have been dissected to death on the board, for the first time.
They also showed the pilot for Hill Street Blues, which was cool to see again for the first time in 40 or so years, but it didn’t seem to touch the crowd in the same fashion.
It was also pretty cool to talk about almost nothing but Batman (except Alex’s shirt) for a few hours.
Thanks for a fabulous evening Chums, I look forward to the next one.

Now THAT"S a group to talk Batman with!!

So glad you had a good time. It's always fun to get a "behind the scenes" insight into a favorite show.
Robert Butler certainly set the bar high right out of the gate.

Dinner and a movie with friends sounds SO GOOD! Jealous!!!
Quick, Everyone, Flee for your lives, into the street!!!!
