Andy, Walmart released a small version a few years ago. This one's the large scale version. I think the first one was like 200 pieces and this one's close to 2000 pieces.

How large is this version then?

I'm far from a Lego expert-- the last time I even held a brick was probably 25 years ago-- but wouldn't this be the same size as the previous one just with more detail? Aren't all the figures the same size?

Lego aficionado here. This one will be larger like the “collectors edition” of the ‘89 and Begins batmobiles. I don’t think it’ll be minifigure scale but it might be a larger minifigure scale. But at any rate it’s got way more detail than the previous smaller version. I’d take a pic of the smaller one bit I put it in storage last week.
The only thing I don’t like about the new one is that the orange stripes are way to thick but I think it would be hard to get them thinner without stickers.

Bleeding Cool has more on the car-- the figure doesn't fit inside it. Don't really understand that, but I'm no Lego expert, maybe this is common?

Lately with all the larger batmobile builds LEGO releases the regular size mini figs with them but nothing to scale to fit in the vehicle itself. I have been using Spinmaster figures in my LEGO builds for display.
