Batman '66 Style Pez at Pez Museum
Today my daughter and I went to the Pez Museum in Orange, CT and saw a '66 styled modern Batman dispenser as well as vintage Bat character dispensers on display. Enjoy the pics!

Interesting! I don’t remember ever seeing one.
Re: Batman '66 Style Pez at Pez Museum
The Pez Museum is a fun visit- I went two years ago.
Which one is the "66 version"? The one with the yellow oval?
That came out about a year ago. Strange to see Pez as a bust.

I used to have a whole bunch of old footless PEZ. My favorites were the monsters, but I had a lot of odd ones from overseas. I sold my PEZ collection probably 30 to 35 years ago.

Mike Herz did a limited run of ‘66 style Pez in the past few years. Since Covid I believe

I did pick up three of the Funko Pop ‘66 Batman PEZ (did not ever see a pink cowl version in stores), but did not understand the diamond shape to Robin’s domino mask.

When Ben Cooper Company was a client I pitched bringing back scary monsters as a license to PEZ -- they said its not like the 60s and 70s when people up into their 20s bought Pez, now Pez is purchased by mostly little kids (and their moms) who don't like scary monsters.
Maybe that's why older collectors don't buy them- I don't want a vampire with a silly smile I want an actual scary vampire, and Frankenstein and Wolfman, etc.

Wow! That was a good pitch to Ben Cooper, and they missed the boat, IMHO.
You’re exactly right (I know there’s an “I agree with Andy“ button around here somewhere). Most of my generation grew up on Saturday night monster movies on TV, frequently introduced by eclectic hosts like “The Cool Ghoul” on WXIX In Cincinnati. Those classic Universal monsters were scary and fun at the same time.
Had Ben Cooper teamed up with PEZ, as you suggested, I believe it would have been a sellout.
Re: Batman '66 Style Pez at Pez Museum
I love the PEZ Museum.
I have a footless 1966-style Batman dispenser with a blue body. A previous owner gifted it (and a footless Hulk) to me back in the 80s. I don't think the Batman ever had a cape, but it has holes in the back of the cowl where one could attach. I'm not enough of a collector to track down (or pay for) a vintage cape, but if a 3D-printer file existed, it'd be a perfect excuse to acquaint myself with the printer in my library's makerspace. Any tips on where I might learn if such a file exists?

The Pez Batman in the first photo looks like a MEGO Batman head.

Re: Batman '66 Style Pez at Pez Museum
The Mego head style Batman was popular in the mid 1970s-- that was the one I would see in stores. Then ironically the original sculpt came back into vogue and they eventually did that one all in black.

Interesting. I didn't notice that. The Joker and Batgirl ones look like Mego heads too. I think the shelf description said they were soft heads.Yellow Oval wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:05 pm The Pez Batman in the first photo looks like a MEGO Batman head.
