Barrett Jackson sold a Batcopter and Batmobile Saturday!
A friend of mine was watching the Barrett Jackson auction today and snapped a couple of quick photos. A Batmobile, #2 (out of three) of the Ford Galaxy “show circuit” Batmobiles sold for $400,000.
A 1966 Batcopter sold for $30,000 (the $20,000 that you see in the photo was not the final price)!
They even sold one of the Beverly Hillbillies vehicles for $110,000!

The Batmobile was not the #2 but the Barris #3 fiberglass replica molded off the #1 during the run of the show and it sold for $450K ($495K with fees)

Okay. Thanks for the clarification. My friend told me they said it was the #2 and sold for $400K. Auctions run fast, so maybe he misheard the details and final hammer price.

When you call it a fiberglass replica molded off the #1, aren't they all fiberglass and replicas of the #1?A. What makes this one different?

I’m no expert. My understanding is that Barris made three Batmobiles on 1966 Ford Galaxie frames/running gear which were used for the show circuit (I would assume promotional events) during the TV show run, and this was one of those three. So it would be made during the show’s first run to promote the show, but not actually used ON the show.
Does this sound right, experts?

Yes during the run of show 3 fiberglass replicas were directly molded off the #1 metal Futura conversion by Barris' shop. Only one replica was seen static in the background in the Batcave in one quick scene, this was the #4 aka Dragster. Mostly they were used for promotion at car shows and events. There was another metal replica based off a '58 Thunderbird made by a fan during the run of the show that eventually became Barris' property. All these replicas were period to the show 1966-68 including the one that was auctioned off on Saturday. The next fan made/other decent replicas were made maybe around late 80's- early '90s be it metal (Don Currie) or mainly fiberglass (Bob Butts), based off molds off of molds

Interesting. I guess I thought the Futura concept car would have been fiberglass to start with. Thanks men!

I'm just hoping that the new owners will cherish these vehicles the same way Stewart did. Rest in peace, Sir.

Any idea who purchased them? Would love to find out that the helicopter wound up in the Batman 1966 museum.

They also sold a Batgirl cycle for about $28k.
I think of Batmobile 2, 3, and 4 as first generation copies.
