Nice article, indeed. Newmar was on-point with the following observation:
"For this Catwoman, watching Batman and Robin’s bond grow on set was pure purr-fection.
"Give the producer William Dozier and 20th Century Fox credit for making the absolutely perfect decision to cast Burt Ward as Robin," said Newmar.
Burt is sublime as Robin," Newmar gushed. "The studio got him at a bargain weekly price, but Burt capitalized admirably on this lucky break."
Burt Ward's sense of who Robin should be defined the intensity and purpose of the character (and how those traits would work in a real world interpretation / setting, as opposed to the comics), with all others who had the role being poor versions, certainly leaving the laughable predecessors Douglas Croft and Johnny Duncan (who appeared as more of an aging barfly than an energetic teenager) in the dust. Other actors have captured Batman as great live action interpretations of the comic book character (the two referred to are in this century), but Robin, that most important of all superhero associates was and is elevated in real form by Burt Ward's deliberate approach.
