Different publishers for different songs might have been involved and some publishers are more stubborn than others.

I do think we will see it on DVD because Warner does try to make sure everything is cleared before release.

Thanks for the info, epaddon. :) You learn something new every day, and this board is the best place to learn about all things '66 Batman. :)

Perhaps that was one of the issues holding up the works all of these years, besides having to track down all of the estates of the various guest stars, etc. It seems that Adam has been saying for a number of years that the release is coming, but obviously he wouldn't know how long it would take to resolve every issue.

Is that the actual box art or is this fan made?

It's the professionally created art that came out around SDCC last year. Anyone care to post the link from tvshowsondvd.com? I'm feeling lazy...

That definitely looks like a professional job, and is a very attractive case for the complete series. Dave Lambert, our own "DVD Detective," managed to track down the origins of the art. The key art was created by Christopher Franchi at Metaluna 5 Media, a company that has a 2-decade history of designing artwork for pop culture, and their clients include Warner Bros, among others. The artwork was posted on their Facebook page on August 10, 2011. The artists are also Bat-fans, and - like many of us - wish to see the 1966 show on DVD, and even possibly Blu-ray Disc. The artwork posted above showing the Blu-ray sets was posted on September 24, 2012 (we had to crop the image to only show 2 out of the 3 boxes on the original post). The box is apparently an idea (a speculative one, we presume?) of what it might look like if Mataluna 5 Media was given the assignment to make up a package - using their litho design - of a Blu-ray Disc set they would call "Batman - The Complete Classic Television Series." On the spine is the same image (from the litho) of Batman and Robin, but with Batgirl added in. That Batgirl image was taken from a separate piece of artwork Christopher Franchi did, with a 2012 copyright. The artwork that started showing up on forums yesterday isn't new, and it shows no sign of being legit enough to convince us that an announcement of the 1966 Batman series, starring Adam West, is truly imminent.

I'm glad they included Batgirl on the spine, at least.

Well, this is taking this thread totally off topic, but epaddon, Ski Party was just on TV, and guess what? Lesley Gore's song Sunshine Lollipops And Rainbows appears to have been cut out of the movie. (James Brown and The Hondells were not cut.) If I'd have known about this before I made my assumption earlier in this thread that Maybe Now was only cut from Batman for more commercials, I never would have opened my big mouth about something I apparently didn't know anything about.

Anyway, thanks for setting me straight about that, and gee, I hope it's just the music publishers and not Lesley who is keeping her songs from various media.

Btw, the above posted picture makes a great DVD box if they go with that or something similar.

Yes, hopefully soon, I have a plan of watching this during my 2 weeks off around Christmas.

My guess is we will see something in July, Batman Day maybe? San Diego Comic-con perhaps?

I'm not going to panic until August.

I'm thinking July as well. I hope we get a trailer for the box set. I'm dying to get a sneak peak at the restoration of the episodes.

Where did you see it? I know that Turner Classic Movies showed it last month. I missed it, but it was also available to watch for a short time on TCM's website, and Gore did sing "Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows" on that version.

It was on a free over-the-air channel/network called The Works. They've been running it multiple times. It's on again Wednesday at 8pm. Glad to hear the song appeared on other channels, though. Hmm, I guess that throws it back into the category of cutting it for time. It's not like the song had anything to do with the story in the movie, so I guess they considered it expendable. There were other places in the movie that looked like something might have been cut out also, though I can't prove it not having seen an uncut version.

As far as the DVD release, I'm guessing a Comicon announcement also.
