William Boyett in The Pharaoh's in a Rut?

Post by LuckyLadybug »

So I was watching the first King Tut episodes on Saturday and was astounded to see William Boyett (credited as Bill Boyett) in the credits of the second half, playing a policeman. He's one of my favorite character actors (I love him on Adam-12 and Highway Patrol) and I remember being likewise puzzled the first time I saw the episode and the credits. There's no one in the episode who looks or sounds anything like William Boyett! The only policeman other than the cast regulars seemed to be the fake one who showed up to gas Alfred and kidnap Bruce Wayne. I've ran the scene back more than once on my various viewings of the episode, but I just can't see that the actor playing the fake policeman could be William Boyett.

Does anyone know the answer to this mystery? Is it really William Boyett? (Although, how could it be, when the fake policeman has a much higher voice than William's deep tones?) Is there another policeman I'm forgetting about? Or could he have shot a scene and then it was cut or recast for some odd reason?

Its on William Boyett's IMDB page, too. I just scanned thru the episode and couldn't find him either. The only police I see are the fake cop and O'Hara in t he episode.

He was the fake cop with the Irish brogue. I'm pretty sure.

nope, looks nothing like him, and after he unmasks it sorta looks like him but the voice is wrong. I think its a case of another actor with a close name and an IMDB page messed up.

Unfortunately, this time it isn't IMDB's fault, as he really is listed in the credits of the episode. But I agree, I just can't think he's the fake cop. The voice is just too high and it doesn't really look like him, even after the unmasking.

I really think its just a case of same name different guy. The cop looks to short to be him either.

Nope, it can't be same name different guy because that would be against SAG rules. I do believe the mystery is solved in that Boyett is one of Tut's costumed henchmen. Specifically the one on the right.

That's Frank Christi:

The other one in that pic is Don Barry.

I'll stand corrected. He certainly resembled Boyett more than the fake cop did, who I would have to assume was Christi?

I've just looked at the casting sheet which I forgot I had (won't let me upload it because it's a pdf file) The role of the "policeman" is the only one with no name next to it. Sounds like it was a last minute thing, wherever it fits in. But it isn't a case of same name, different person.

I am assuming Policeman refers to the fake cop who unmasks into Frank Christi, its obvious that they are two different actors. Perhaps there was a stunt actor named Bill Boyett and he's getting mixed up with William Boyett.

Could the dialogue have been dubbed over Bill Boyett's scenes by a different act? That could explain how he looks right but doesn't sound right.

I don't see anybody in that episode resembling Boyett of Adam 12 fame.
