While on vacation this month, my wife and I just happened to stop in Metropolis, IL to check out the Superman Museum and statue. We had a bit of a look around and found something that caught my eye. There is a closed Hollywood/Americana museum there that appears to have been shutdown in 2012. In the fenced off back area of the property we found this...
I really do not know if this is a replica or not...Does anyone here have a clue to the pedigree of this boat? As the attraction has been shutdown for some time and it is stored outside in the elements, I imagine that the condition is only going to continue to suffer.
Unable to see the dash on account of the fence limiting the angles.
Did a bit of a google search and found photos of it from 2011. It looked in much better shape then and one of the pictures had a caption stating that it had been sold at auction for $5000. I didn't find any other info on this particular craft.
That appears to be the boat built by M.T. for the now defunct Superhero museum in Indianapolis. It was sold at an auction in Indy that I attended in 2011. I had wondered where it ended up. Thanks for posting its whereabouts.
I was just doing some more googling on this boat for a friend of mine and it appears that it has changed hands again. From this Youtube video it seems that someone purchased it and moved it off the closed up Americana Museum lot in July of 2015. https://youtu.be/2Qmeel-GXv0
