At least that was meant to be a comedy, or something like it.
My worst would be his "bad cop" role in Zombie Nightmare.

also,,, being shot out a cannon at SHRINES CIRCUS,,,in the 70s !!!
Re: ADAM WEST,S EMBARESSING ROLES????
Well if you asked him circa 1970 one of his most embarrassing roles was Batman. He regretted doing the show and felt it ended his "serious" career. It's only time and perspective that changed that opinion. I think an actor has to act, and he has to pay the bills, if that means being shot out of a cannon or being a supporting player in a Burt Reynolds movie you do it.
I always cringe when I see footage of him at auto shows in costume, that was not a good time for him.

Where to begin?! Acrtually, I love them all, no matter how awful. Even "The Happy Hooker Goes Hollywood" which I found in my uncle's collection of 'clearance' LaserDiscs (!!!) one summer and watched it (skipping ahead to the West parts) probably a dozen times. I only lost interest in West's post-Batman career after I realized he wasn't going to pull off Batman again. I was less excited to see him, but still usually did.

One of Stafford Repp's last roles was the "Dirty Old Man" in "Linda Lovelace for President."
Mercifully, he had a brief role in a MASH episode that was shown four months after his death, so that the above appearance didn't serve as his last acting role.

Young Lady Chatterley II, which I stumbled across late one night on Showtime back in the early 90s. Softcore "naughty" film that tried for "humor." As I recall, Adam's character is an absent-minded professor type who doesn't figure in any...erm..."love" scenes, but spends all his screen time wandering the grounds of the Chatterley estate trying to catch butterflies with a net, and getting lost. Honestly, I remember not being able to figure out why they even wrote him into the film, except maybe to boast they had a "name" in the cast, whether the character fit the plot or not.
Maybe he reasoned, "Hey it'll pay the bills, and it's not like anyone will ever see it." But then came cable, and the need to fill 24 hours of programming with literally anything.

Actually, it occurs to me I don't know of another actor who spent such a long period "in the wilderness" as it were, career-wise, only to come back and enjoy not only a major second-go-round of success, but actually find himself elevated to "revered icon" status. Usually the pattern involves a star hitting the "bad patch" at the end of their career -- and life -- and only being rediscovered posthumously, if at all. (Shatner had a bad stretch there, too, but I don't think he fell as far as Adam, or as long). I think it's fair to say most "fading star" stories that get to the point of circus stunts and wrestling matches do NOT reach a later chapter of "redemption" and "career second wind." It's pretty awesome it's worked out for him in the end.
Someone ought to make a movie about it.

Shatner did fall practically as far as Adam West. He was in 'Big Bad Mama 2' with Angie Dickenson! You've NEVER seen him so thin. Shatner was doing Trek conventions and game shows in the 70's! Not Adam's fault. Trek endured way better than Batman. Shatner became iconic at the same time Adam West was considered an embarrassment and a joke. When 'classic Trek' was loved, classic 'Batman' was despised. Still, I love the Shat. Early in their careers you'd have to say Shatner had higher aspirations. He wanted to be a respected film actor, and I think West just wanted to be a star. On that lever West came closer to achieving his dream than Shatner. Adam didn't have half the comeback that 'Bill' did, but still pretty good. They both did okay.
This is the greatest Shatner site ever.

Shatner had his absurd "music" career that allowed him to morph into a career that bordered on self-parody. In a way, it mirrored Leslie Nielsen's evolution from serious actor into the Police Squad deadpan humor. Shatner also connected with younger audiences earlier, with his classic 1986 SNL appearance allowing him to garner plenty of publicity with his skit where he trashes Star Trek fans at a convention (i.e. "Get a life!")
