Wow, not sure why they would continue to air those especially in this day & age of HD broadcasts. Doesnt make much sense if you ask me.Boy Wonder wrote:The Old Washed Out Prints.weirdkorey wrote:I do have a question for anyone who might know the answer. When ME-TV or this channel airs Batman are they still airing the old washed out syndication prints or are they using the new prints of the bluray?

That's why the same shows are run over and over and over on both ME-TV and Antenna TV. In the latter case, a big event for them is when they play musical chairs with the same shows.

I guess my question would be why wouldn't they upgrade to the better quality prints? Would it cost them more? Is there a legal obstacle that keeps them from having a better quality copy of the same show they have licensed the rights to show on their channel?Dr. Shimel wrote:$$$weirdkorey wrote:Wow, not sure why they would continue to air those especially in this day & age of HD broadcasts. Could it be an issue with how the syndication rights were a separate part of the contract and therefore handled differently?
Re: Batman moving on ME-TV
I doubt they care all that much. Their vintage shows run the gamut, looks-wise, from pretty good to lousy. CHiPs is fairly clean-looking, for its age, but it's sloppily cropped for the conversion to widescreen, so the opening and closing credits are cut off on both sides. "Newhart" is so muddy and soft it looks decades older than it even is (and it's 4 decades old already). "Star Trek" features the recently "enhanced" effects, but that's likely because this is the only version of the show the owners are making available now.
I would imagine MeTV figures that anyone who cares about pristine quality is going to buy the BluRays and DVDs. Judging from all the ads they run for pharmaceuticals for elders, insurance plans for elders, phone plans for elders, hearing aids, etc., they probably figure their typical viewer can't see the screen all that well, anyway.

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse."
