Well, we were planning a quick trip to Palm Springs to warm our Northeast bones but made the quick decision to make it Key West instead, less restrictions in Florida with the whole pandemic.

It really does feel hit and miss. I've visited a couple of Target's this week and i've only seen multiples of individual figures - one had 3x regular Jokers and the other had four Robins. Not seen a cave or Batmobile for some time, which is ironic given that i've finally come around to the idea of buying a 'mobile after Lou's great modification thread.
Ben- Moved to California? Can Londoners actually do that? I thought it would be like Dracula moving to Miami Beach? I don't know if the US makes enough sun screen for you. ;)
Good news though, hopefully we can connect at SDCC when it actually starts happening again.
Yes, Sir! I moved to the US permanently on January 5th, but fear not, i've been slowly acclimatising my pasty British complexion to the California weather for chunks of times over the last thirteen years 8-)

But yes, looking forward to connecting when you're on the left coast!

For those waiting with bated breath about the future of the line, Todd McFarlane has just confirmed today that there will be a Julie Newmar Catwoman joining the line.

Yep, I saw a FB post. Catwoman's catsuit will be moulded in sparkly black plastic. There won't be a Batgirl as they have hit a glitch with Yvonne's estate.

I wonder what that would be about? Anybody with any insight into why Yvonne's people wouldn't want to play ball, or are slowing things down? I wonder if it's dissatisfaction with past merchandise/figures?

Did they say anything about Penguin?

If you look back, there hasn't been anything Batgirl since the end of 2019. This is probably when her contract she signed expired. Perhaps the reason she wasn't included in the Mezco set? I guess this means we won't ever see that model kit that keeps getting delayed either.

That's great, a Julie Catwoman would be a put-fect (sorry) addition to the line. I can't imagine Penguin wouldn't be the other figure in the release since they do them in groups plus variants-- so the boxing Batman and Riddler would likely round out the wave.

Pretty much.

No. It's purely contract oriented. When Yvonne signed the terms of the likeness agreement back in 2013, she did not agree to the "in perpetuity" (forever) clause and now that agreement has since expired. To my current knowledge, DC (or whoever handles likeness licensing over there) has not renewed or even attempted to renegotiate to the estate on anything as of yet. Her estate his handled by her direct family and they are great people. I'm sure they will come up with a sensible agreement if one is offered, made or even approached. DC was very lax the first time around of even coming to her in the first place back in 2012/2013 or even answering her questions so DC might not even be pursuing it all. That part I don't know for sure but it is in DC's court on holding anything up, not the Yvonne estate itself.

So, in a nutshell, the "glitch" would be that DC doesn't have a likeness contract for Yvonne these days.

On Yvonne's official site (of which I webmastered for her and now her family since her passing), her nephew, Christopher Carson (great guy) handles the likeness front and has put his contact info for all likeness and usage inquires.

On Bradford Exchange they have a new calendar with 3” bust / sculpture pieces of characters coming out soon and somehow they are making Batgirl for the month of July. Wonder if companies can seek Yvonne’s likeness rights on their own of if it has to be DC/WB as a whole? Maybe Bradford Exchange will drop her and replace her with another character then? It’s a shame about no Batgirl for McFarlane, but I’ll be fully satisfied having Batman and Robin and the big 4. The first 2 seasons were always my favorite.

Awesome. Any indication of what else new is coming? Would be nice if they eliminate the Platinum versions and make the variations readily available (e.g., masked vs. unmasked Catwoman).

Thanks for all that, Scott. Kind of a sad situation.

This would explain why FTC dropped Bat Girl from the line. Why they didn't eliminate their Barbra Gordon character...I don't know

FTC didn't "drop" Batgirl as much as there wasn't the amount of tangible variants that they could offer like there is with Surfing/Boxing/Pink Cowl Batman. Keep in mind that the likeness is the actor, rather than the character. FTC continued to use Yvonne's likeness as Barbara right up until their fifth of their six series of figures in the line.
