Just ordered one so we'll see how it looks.

Cool. I'm curious to see how it looks with the ensemble.

There's a TV costume collector and I think his name is Azarian who would know. If he doesn't know no one knows.GMartin58 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 8:09 pm
I've asked that question before and to my knowledge no one has any inkling of where the original costumes went. I'd love to be proven wrong. The other issue with clothing from nearly 60 years ago would be some fading issues unless they were kept in pristine conditions.
I hate to say that this is one case where...and I really hate this in doing cosplay...IT'S CLOSE ENOUGH! (I will hate myself in the morning...)
Or you could say "It's close enough until better reference is discovered."
Re: What kind of hat style did the Green Hornet wear and what color was it?
I've actually connected with him...and he didn't know. Said he's never seen any GH costumes come up.

That was good you researched it. I bet Van Williams or his family has a costume. Usually they would give costumes to the actors especially back in the '60s because they made so many extra costumes and who else was it going to fit.

I wrote to a high class hat making company. They make classy and very beautiful mens hats. I asked them if they could make me a Green Hornet hat and I sent him many pictures of Green Hornet that Pennyworth provided. Their reply:
"We can absolutely assist in making a hat very similar to this. This would be a custom and depending on the weight of the felt you choose. Either $1095, $1295 or $1495."
I'm going to ask him what they mean by the weight of the felt and if it could be for both winter and summer. I'm guessing a heavier felt would be strictly winter for warmth.

I bought mine from Baron Hats in Los Angeles back 2006 as a regular green fedora right off the rack for under $100 but asked them to add a thicker head band ribbon around it and then a couple of years later had them trim about 1/4 or slightly more off around the brim to tighten the look.
They make custom hats. I had them make my Lone Ranger hat many moons ago but that of course wayyyyyy more.

You could probably send them a pic of the one that I have and they could probably make a better estimate way under $1000.

Not the case here and very faulty logic on how wardrobe in Hollywood works most of the time. They rarely give the costumes to the actors. It happens, but by no means is it "usually". Sorry but I'm just trying to stop bad information.
Re: What kind of hat style did the Green Hornet wear and what color was it?
Oh I can see how most TV companies would want to keep the costumes. But I knew actress Irish McCalla who played Sheena, Queen of the Jungle in 1955 and Nassour Studios made 12 costumes and gave her 6. One or two were higher quality close-up costumes that she wore to personal appearances. I bought one of the stunt costumes from her sons.Scott Sebring wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 5:27 pmNot the case here and very faulty logic on how wardrobe in Hollywood works most of the time. So speaking specifically about superhero costumes, maybe they would give some costumes if they like the actor or actress. It seems like Adam West and Burt Ward were given some costumes so likely Van Williams was given a costume. I wonder if anyone asked him?
Lynda Carter was definitely given at least two costumes. George Reeves must have been given Superman costumes because its said he burned them because he hated wearing them. Now that was a pity because I heard his costumes go for $250,000 each now.
The hat color you have looks very accurate.

Scott do you have any idea what Pantone match your Hat has? Just curious.

According to Adam's late agent, Fred, Adam ended up with pieces from acquiring and keeping a few items at home here and there because he made promotional appearances during the run of the show all the way up to the end. So he would take a suit on Friday for a Saturday appearance for example and then leave it at home when going back to work on Monday. After the series ended , he wasn't "given" any items but he didn't return the other items that he already had sitting at home. He tried to make those last as long as he could through the years. I have no idea on Burt's situation but it may have been similar. Yvonne was never given any Batgirl costume items but she told me that she also never made the frequent appearances like Adam and Burt did and had no need to take one home. Once again. Not as standard as you'd like to think.
Already stated before.

Sorry, I don't.
Don't even have a Pantone book.
Re: What kind of hat style did the Green Hornet wear and what color was it?
Dozier should have gifted them costumes.
That's interesting that Van Williams was never given a costume. I doubt they were destroyed so someone must have them. The studio could have reused the Green Hornet jacket for something else. Sometimes Western Wear made the costumes although I don't know if they made the Batman and Green Hornet costumes.

Western ended up with some Batman items for sure whether or not the made them. They even offered them for rental at least up to the 80's.
Re: What kind of hat style did the Green Hornet wear and what color was it?
I've checked with Western and they don't have any records of GH costumes.
