Batman Tv Series on UKTV

Post by Avenger90 »

Just a heads up for any fellow UK batfans out there. Talking Pictures have began showing the series every Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. This is a channel you can access on Freeview. They have just shown the first set of Joker episodes.

I know we have the boxset now but it is nice to see this fantastic series back on UK television after over 10 years - I think the last time it was shown here was on ITV4 back in 2011/2012!!

It is funny-- I have the series on Blu Ray, DVD and Streaming, and I still tune into MeTV to watch it.

Wait, Batman released on Blu-Ray? I always assumed the quality isn't that good. Is the Blu-Ray version any better than DVD?

It was scanned and digitally restored for a simulatenous Blu Ray and DVD release ten years ago as of this November. If you've never seen the show in HD, you are in for a treat! Plus the Blu Ray boxset is outrageously cheap these days.

Seconding Ben's recommendation- the Blu Ray is gorgeous.

I wish I had a Blu-Ray player. Sadly, those things are still expensive. As much as I like the fuzzy warmth of a DVD, I have to admit that HD video is tantalising. Well, I'll definitely consider buying a player and box set some day.

They are showing one episode only weekly on Saturday and repeating in on Sunday. If they keep that pattern up it will take over two years to show the whole show. It does feel great seeing it on TV still as mentioned.
I love my BluRay collection - does everyone watch in order or do you pick and choose episodes? And if so, what ones do you rarely go back too?!

I watch in order, for sure. The first season especially is back-to-back full of great episodes. As for episodes I come back to, those include The Joker Goes To School/He Meets His Match The Grisly Ghoul, The Pengiun Goes Straight, the silent film episode, Ma Parker, the Egghead saga, and so on. There's a lot of really good episodes. Like, a lot of them.

I'd say the second half kind of blends into itself because of tighter budgets and trying to fit in with the culture of its time instead of opting for a timeless approach etc., but yeah.
