Got the same note.
That swap idea is great I have 2 I can swap to get two Matte models, the Lotus, and the Riviera

I received the Exo… shipping notice and USPS says they are awaiting the item. I thought this was for the Hornby Tow hook version (to pull my Batboat)

If you join now it cost $40 plus change and you get membership, a spiffy tin can, and a car of four you can choose. I chose the 1960s police car because it was most similar to a Gotham City police car.

Then you have to do a bit of work moving months around to get to the Batmobile.

Per Exo tracking, my Corgi Batmobile (glossy version) arrived at JFK Airport today. First review now up on youtube, which includes a comparison to a vintage Corgi Batmobile.

So Corgi UK has a Glossy Black no tow hook variant with a gold beacon. They also have the silver DB5 Bond car

Just when you thought it was safe with 3 variants.

They're learning from Hot Wheels.

I bet we will see a red stripe Corgi Batmobile. They couldn't do it in 1966 because it was too time-consuming but now with technology it can be done as Jada has shown.

I saw Hornby (USA) has the Batmobile in the window box and they mention it has the tow hook. No pictures of the back of the car. I’m wondering if this has the tow hook attached or it it removable?

I ordered my car from the Hornby site in August. Anyone know when those will arrive?
I’m pretty excited because I have vivid memories of studying all the die cast cars in the display case at Emporium-Capwell department and wishing my parents could afford to get me one. Well now I can.

Got my order today!
CORGI 1.jpg
Not sure when they were first shipped but it seemed like reasonable speed. Packaged well and the outer boxes are all really sharp-- very glossy.
CORGI 2.jpg
The interior display card is sharp-- the car is good, I opened one of the six I bought- Robin had been ejected out of the car which is what I would do if I were Batman, the antenna has a curve in the wrong direction, I did not load the rockets and have no intention of doing so. Car looks very sharp, feels slightly lighter than the original red wheel one I have, but I have zero complains (keep in mind I'm not a toy psycho so your mileage may vary). It's a fun throwback to a toy that was a big part of my childhood.
CORGI 3.jpg
Back of the interior display card is my favorite-- I've not seen that on the repro cards people make, I'd forgotten it even existed but it came flooding back when I saw it.

I'm likely to order a couple of Matte Batmobiles but honestly I'm a bit on the fence, I never had one of those as a kid coming into Corgi in probably 1972-- and if they do a tow hook or a red stripe I would have no interest. But this is great, and I'm happy with them.

Lou,

For this one I would have to say I am a toy whisperer. 20 or so years ago in 2004 at iHobby Expo I first started talking to the Corgi rep who told me they did want to reissue the Batmobile. The following years I would ask the rep the same thing. But at that time the Batmobile rights were a mess. Then Mattel Hot Wheels cleared up the rights and had an exclusive on rolling Wheels Batmobiles. Then that expired and Jada made theirs. I would write to Corgi Club but they would say the rights were unavailable to them and I would tell them to look at Jada. Then Corgi Club finally accepted the rights were available to them and they negotiated for it for a year. Mine should arrive tomorrow. I'm glad everyone likes theirs.

Correction: I seem to remember iHobby expo was held at two different convention halls. I think I first talked to the Corgi rep in 2004. I have to check my photos and reporter ticket.

I got mine today too. Love it. I never had this as a kid because it was always expensive at my local specialty shop named Toyland. I think it was 35-45$ then.

Since I have no original to reference, I'm left wondering if the packaging matches the original? It looks kinda unsaturated and slightly blurry. Love all the paper instructions and stickers! My antenna goes the right direction. Robin had come out but went right back. Were they loose in the original?

I haven't done this yet but I could possibly 3D print some rockets for the collectors like me that don't want to break them open. Drop me a line and let me know if you want them.

Mine arrives tomorrow but from the pictures I've seen and I have an original, the slightly blurry is probably accurate because of the paper they used for the original. Also the outer box of the original was flat and I understand the new one is very glossy. But that's okay with me.

Now the original purple bat sticker was on a silk cloth not paper. I understand the new stickers are paper. Now that I wish they used cloth because it was smooth.

The blurry original graphics are how I remember them. THere was no insert in the original car-- it would roll around inside the box when you picked it up. I don't know if Robin is smaller but not only did the figures not fall out in the original they were sometimes hard to get out. I remember the Robin figure being slightly bigger than Batman.

BatToys is 100% the biggest qualm that doesn't match is the sticker-- it was indeed a very sticky fabric. I don't think I ever did anything with the sticker then I'm not going to do anything with it now.

>>I would be interested in some 3D rockets if you went that route Randy, so let me know.
